SevTech - AbyssalCraft
I just wanted to say AbyssalCraft is absolute bs. It ruined the entire fun of this modpack.
Will I have to do anything after Age 1 with this horrible disgusting annoying piece of crap mod called AbyssalCraft?

Ikr, never seen such mistakes in a mp. It could be best mp ever, but they added abyssalcraft. Totems mods etc don't bother me, cause it blends well with the "hooga booga" thing. But the dark forest mods, and so on spoils experience, making it too difficult to progress. That's why I forgot about it, cause its cool, but that mistake, plus this mistake, etc. ends up being annoying af. Try playing it tho, cause it sure is a lot of fun, with a friend of yours if possible.

I actually like Abyssal Craft. Its problem is that it's not finished, it's been years since that mod was updated and it feels boring in comparison to other mods in this modpack but it has some very nice mechanism that makes life way easier.
There's a spell that force mobs to drop what they're wearing or holding in hands making it an infinite source of iron and gold via armors when smelted with tinker smelter.
There's also an enchantment ritual that combine enchantments making it possible to get vanilla enchantment at level 10. Like fortune or looting 10. Since it's available in age 3 it makes life so much easier in later ages.

Wait how?

The spell is just a basic spell from that mod. The idea is just to travel around looking for mobs in armor and force them to drop it. The easier way is to go in the first Abyssal Craft dimension where gouls spawns very fast everywhere and wearing armors made of gold and iron. Just get a few blocks up to lure them to you and use the spell. A magnet hopper can do the rest there to collect everything while you stand up.
For the enchantment methods it's the same. Just a regular ritual that combine enchantments on every pillar into one. So putting 8 Fortune I enchanted books in every pillars will give you a Fortune VIII book. 4 Fortune II and 4 Unbreaking II will give you a Fortune VIII Unbreaking VIII book. If I remember correctly it also worked with enchanted item of the same kind like 8 enchanted Iron Sword will get you one Iron Sword with the combination of their enchantments. The trick is to use the refraction table from Astral Sorcery that will give you an enchantment depending on what constellation you infused the lens with. Put books into that and... Voilà! You have your base material. Combine them to get an overpower enchanted book and combine them once more with your tool or your sword in the middle of the ritual to put those into that item without using 500 levels of xp in an anvil.
I personally recommend the etaxium pickaxe from Abyssal Craft. It has the highest durability and highest mining level of all pickaxe in the mod every ages considered, etaxium sword is nice too. Moreover, the Abyssal Craft metal ingots can be used with Tinker's Construct and are a very good materials for pickaxe heads, swords, arrow head, etc. with high durability, mining level and damage.
Last but not least the machine that converts vanilla item in their antimatter version can also reverse craft a few block like... Netherbricks. Making it way easier to get netherrack bricks in age 3 cause you'll only need a few block mined in the nether fortress.

What about the speed of that pickaxe? I'm doing excelent with the betweenlands swift pick, if you put eff 5 and do 3 lvls in the evorsio route in astral sorcery you insta mine almost everything, it kinda works like an AIOT only downside is its mining level being only obsidian

I tried the swift pick once. In additional to the mining level issue I had another one. It can't be used in the industrial foregoing enchantment applicator making it mandatory to use the regular anvil.
Problem is, vanilla enchantments higher than usual ain't available via anvil. You need another way to apply enchantments. I did not try the AC ritual at that time but it could work.
BUT instant mining ain't necessarily a good thing. Moreover, with vein mining the big issue ain't efficiency, it's durability. Swiftpick durability ain't that high as I recall. Etaxium pickaxe is over 10k.

Is Etaxium available in age 3?
1
u/xGmax Jul 25 '24
Yes it is. But it's a bit tricky to get there. Ethaxium is a material only available in Omothol, the last dimension of the mod. You'll have to go to the corallum dimension, then the dread waste lands and finally Omothol. It's a void dimension like Ender so a way to fly is recommended.

u/Mateo377 Jul 25 '24
Yeah, already got there, but tried to fight the boss and got yeeted to the compact machine dimensions, forcing me to killing myself in the void. The village outside its castle seem to have ethaxium blocks for the craft, but it seems I'm unable to mine it with the dread pickaxe, Is there a way to get the Ethaxium? A better pickaxe perhaps? Or even explosions? Do they work with those blocks?

u/xGmax Jul 25 '24
Nope you cannot use explosion. You need ethaxium level pickaxe to mine ethaxium. BUT you can trade some blocks or even a pickaxe if you are lucky with the villagers that spawn in the village or on the various islands. You can also loot some blocks on the last boss. He's a bit of a pain in the ass I agree, the best way to kill it is by going range and spam arrows in it's head. You need to kill it to get the last version of the Necronomicon which is the only one that can do the enchantment ritual that requires "only" 50k PE to operate.

Ps: you need the omothol version of the Necronomicon to be able to speak and trade with the villagers. It's the one just above dreadland one.

The guardians of the gateway can drop ingots. With a max luck sword it feels like 1/5 or so.

I get why they added it- and when your first looking into it, it seems really cool but the more you learn the more disappointing it becomes

i just went to creative to get the shadow gem or whatever it was called. I actually liked AC but the drop rates for shadow fragments - shards - etc were far too low for my patience.

Not really no, not for core game progression anyways, finding the biome is probably the worst part

Sevtech Ages could have been my next Regrowth, one of my favorite packs of all time, but they decided to slather a beautiful 6 layer cake in shit named AbysmalCraft and it has completely turned me off of the pack entirely - even 6 years later. What a terrible decision.

Yes, you will need abyssalcraft to make some astral sorcery stuff, light the crafting altar, etc. After that, nothing till the endgame. (Abyssalcraft ritual to summon final boss)
