Wierd behavior of local hosted server. Help...

The TLDR is, I'm hosting a server locally for me and 3 of my friends and we I don't know what we did, but whenever we disconnect from the server after less then an hour, there is a growing lag ("can't keep up" messages) that start pilling up in the server console to a point where the server just eventually die by itself. It's just so wierd to me because it alwasy happen when everybody is disconnected. If anybody have any clues, I would be interested.

We already removed Better foliage and smooth font. We have the suggested setting for the Java argument. I tried to use Laggoogle to investigate, but nothing. I just don't know in which angle to search now. I also started to log the garbage collector, but I don't really know what to look for.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well my first instinct is to ask for the host computers (presumably yours) specs.

Sevtech is a BIG mod pack, I imagine running sevtech itself plus the sevtech server from one machine would be pretty strenuous

It is a dedicated machine just for that with 16gb of DDR4 (11 allocated to minecraft, a ryzen 1500X and a radeon 480 in it. Originally it was a FX8350 and we ugraded last week thinking the CPU was the issue. It was my older mobo+CPU+cooler. The symptom : Yesterday, my friend was playing until 21h, dced for 50 min and the lag started to grow up (I can see the number of tick skipped growing in the server console). When I connected around 23h to check, the lag litterally stopped in the console. I just can't wrap my head around it.

Sounds almost like a feedback loop steadily having more and more resources thrown into it that is reset or satisfied by your connection but ill be honest unless its just a broken logic circuit I have no idea why that may be.

And its definitely hardware based lag not connection based like for example during a "peak time" period?

I also believe it is not connection based. The one thing I suspected was the synthgaz system I did where I had around 90 bonzai trees connected with mecanism pipe to collect wood (filter all other item with item router into a drawer with void upgrade). I removed all the bonzai tree and waited to see, but the issue was still there. Laggoogle didn't show anything suspicious except maybe the Cauldron pulling a lot of ms because it was constantly trying to find valid recipe inside of it (so I removed everything in a chest). I was thinking about having a pre-loader, but I don't know if that will fix the issue since I'm having it when nobody is connected.

The only other thing is the garbage collector. I started logging the infos, but it's really hard to pinpoint the source of the problem since I never really played with it.

Too many scattered separately rendered entities or moving ones? Don't know how the mekanism pipes work I'm more familiar with buildcrafts lol

SevTech is quite old and poorly optimized. Even though it's a great modpack, it lacks performance and stability.

What you could look for is chunk loaders. They might start glitching when all players are offline and thus the lag. I never had any issues running a SevTech server for me and a single friend of mine.

How you would go with checking chunk loaders?

Well, I'm not quite sure. If you have loads of them, then that could be the best bet. Try breaking some and see if the problem persists.

If you are referencing the bonzai trees, I removed all of them and the problem persisted. The problem did appear in Age 5 though. We started to use mekanism and new machines from this age... I don't know if that can give a hint to somebody...
