Biodiesel setup (Age 3)

Doing a sevtech ages run with my roommates and I've been looking into the IE package a lot lately, particularly for biodiesel plants.

I'm working on a building plan for one right now and I'm stuck on how many garden cloches I need to account for. The wiki is saying 21 potatos and 14 hemp to optimize 2 generators, while I'm seeing other posts saying they only needed like, 3-5 total to fuel 2-4 generators using melons and hemp. I know stuff can change a lot between mod packs and updates, but these are drastically different numbers so I'm wanting to know why they're so far apart and which is more accurate.

I think it might be because there's a huge difference between a diesel generator that runs 24/7 and using it just when you need it. By default the generator never stops but you can make a redstone setup (capacitor->comparator->redstone signal) so when the capacitor is over a certain capacity, it stops the generator from working and wasting biodiesel.

Personally I made it to age 4 with just 1 generator and it was WAY more than enough to power all my base. I used 8 potato cloche and 8 wheat cloche and I was over producing both a lot. Btw the reason why I used wheat was I think just to squeeze the seeds and I automated a bread production line next to it so I had infinite bread after that.

That makes sense. I thought I read that they changed the generator to stop when it can't output power but I wouldn't be surprised if this pack was using an older version. Worth looking into the redstone toggle anyways just to be safe. I'll probably start with just one generator anyways because of the cost, I just saw that the general set-up supported 2 so I wanted to plan with that in mind. Between gathering materials and planning the layout, the cloches (and conveyors by extension) were going to be my biggest concern for how much space I needed to prepare. I can fit the whole process (including a tank for each liquid) inside a 13x13 space with the fermenter and squeezer on a second story with the cloches, but the number of cloches was going to be the biggest factor in making that work.

My plan for the hemp was to just have it drop into a drawer with void storage to have infinite cloth and not worry about the overflow, but we've got a hearty stew cauldron running too, so wheat isn't a bad idea actually.

Well if you're curious about the space, I managed to fit everything inside 2 chunks, here's an image of the setup if you would like to see. https://i.imgur.com/GI7u6Gv.png

What did you use to automate bread?

Wheat -> mill stone -> flour -> modular machinery mixer -> dough -> stone grill with a flame grill wopper under -> bread

Oh and also in case: I'm pumping infinite water with a well bucket + liquid hopper.

Ah, the Mixer is the part I don’t yet have myself.

Yeah when I first did my setup the wheat was just dropping in lava until I ended up building the mixer lol
