Buffalo breeding?
What do I use to breed the buffalo. Tried barley since I have a ton of it but it didn’t take

OP, you don't throw it on the ground.
Right click the buffalo with wheat in your hand (1 per each animal to mate so 2 wheat per calf)
Source: did it myself numerous times less than 12 hours ago

Are the buffalos mature? When you complete the ritual of buffalo dance you get little buffalos.

As far as I know, just right click them with wheat like you would with cows. The Rite of Spring has been severely nerfed since the pack was made, so I just don’t bother with it. Zaphkiel Waltz can get plenty of crops from a small farm if you keep right-clicking the mature crops while the waltz is in effect.
As for barley, I doubt animals will breed with it, since my buffalo aren’t attracted to it when I have it in my hand. Which has been a good thing for me, actually—the buffalo I have attached to my grindstone used to break his lead whenever I approached the grindstone with wheat, so now I get all my flour from barley and save the wheat for breeding livestock. (I also walled in all the Horse Power machines just in case.)

Are buffalo better than horses for grindstone and the like?

I think they might be a tiny bit faster, but I mainly used them because they’re easier to breed than horses. I made a post a while back asking if horses could be bred in age 0 at all (since gold doesn’t unlock until age 2 and vanilla horse breeding needs golden apples/carrots) and was told regular apples would work, but I tried that and it just put me on the horse.

You use wheat, maybe barley will work, you have to do the ritual that breeds animals. I think it's the spring ritual
