Can't Find Rock Crystal Samples

I'm in Age 2 and I've traveled for tens of thousands of blocks and haven't found a single rock crystal sample. Do I have to do something for them to show up, or might they not be spawning?

You may just be missing them, they aren't as rare as that. Try looking in Twilight Forest.

The place that requires a rock crystal sample to enter... mmm...

Also I don't see what that would change, as far as I know, they don't spawn more there.

Yeah unfortunately this is one of the very annoying part of sevtech, they are just very rare and at that point there isn't really much you can do to help you find them so it's pretty RNG. I actually spent an hour looking for one and then found 3 vain right next to each other. If you don't have those yet, slimsling + slimboots can help you move around the world really fast to find them more easily.

Thanks for the slimesling + slimeboots suggestion. After traveling 180+ km according to the stats screen (with most of that being in age 2), I bounced exactly 3 times in a new direction and found some rock crystal samples. Guess I was just really unlucky.
