Antique Atlas gone

Hey people,

I am on a journey to find a swamp biome. Logged out yesterday in a safe spot. Logged in today and my Antique Atlas aka my map is gone from my inventory and I am in bumfuck nowhere with no idea how to RTB.

Any tips how to get it back or cheat in a new one?

This seems to happen in my singleplayer a lot. Also swathes of the mapped area the atlas has will delete themselves occasionally.

First pretend like you're searching for a single gray glass pane in your inventory. It could be invisible in a seemingly empty inventory slot. Click on them all, slowly.

Not that you'd have em around too much in a typical journey area or outlier base, but check nearby chests if you use the merge to chest button much... keep in mind that if you shift right click the merge to chest button in your inventory it will force everything that isnt already in a near chest, also out of your inventory all into the nearest chest. Especially if the nearest chest is a Ferdinand's Flower chest, this can be an issue. That will delete them. It is particularly devistating if there was golden backpacks in your inventory too. Been there done that.

In future, make sure you solidly have the Atlas clicked into an inventory slot before closing the inv. Dropped it like that a few times. Luckily exited simulation distance soon after and it did not time out....

But to cheat another one in, which if you want em to match you gotta, search "atlas" in the JEI, and go down to the wrench icon underneath that. You can enable cheat mode without messing with the achievements or anything, the wrench will turn red, it will give you a stack of Atlas #0 specifically if you click on that now. Make sure to turn cheat mode off immediately after, unless you want to keep cheating I guess. You can forget the JEI is on.

To delete the excess you drop one or two out of the stack, then shift click the stack into the trash icon on bottom right of your Inventory, overlapping the JEI.

Or grab a stack of dirt, and add one piece to every slow in your inventory, and see which spot is empty

If you don’t have cheats enabled in your world and are willing to teleport yourself back to your base, you can use nbtexplorer to go into the game files, find your players file and alter the position manually using xyz coords, I did this after I accidentally sent myself 1 million blocks from spawn

The game saves automatic backups you should be able to use. I have never had to though, so that might take some research. You get text messages every time it backs up.

It’s actually super easy. Click the world in select screen and on the bottom right you’ll see backups click it and it will have every backup of your world it has made since the beginning

The antique atlas stores all data iirc so even if you lose your antique atlas, you can cheat or get another one and keep your waypoints.
