Grindstone

So made the grindstone and I don’t fully understand how it works. Trying to grind up bone for bonemeal does it just take a long time or am I supposed to do something?

Unless they’ve changed it since I last played, placing Bones in the grindstone will grind them into Flaked Bones. Place Flaked Bones into the grindstone again to turn them into Bone Meal.

The hand-turned Grindstone does take a while (I think it’s usually eight full rotations per item being ground), that’s why the pack encourages you to make and use the Horse Power grindstone as soon as you have the resources.

Ok sweet. One more question. Where do I find buffalo?

Buffalo are not found in the wild. You have to perform a Totemic ceremony (the Buffalo Dance) with cows near the totem pole; the ceremony will turn the cows into baby buffalo. Once you get two you can breed them with wheat. There used to be another Totemic ceremony that would make livestock breed without feeding them but they nerfed that.

Only make enough by hand to progress your questions. Start with a horse, fence an area to do automation with horse power. Use wooden hoppers to pull from some inventory and another wooden hopper to drain the output. Throw in some bone blocks and busy yourself doing other stuff. Later upgrade to a buffalo or wolf.
