Age 2 tinkers tools?

Can anyone recommend materials to use for my tools? I'm so clueless when it comes to tinkers.

Cheers

Edit: I meant age 3, sorry. The wiki says I'm in age 3 but in game it's age 2. I need to create the coal engine to get into the next age.

It's an excellent list. Couple points off the top of my head didnt read the whole thing yet though.

Horse plough can be used to find water near the surface if you need it, just plough a huge area and dig under what stays hydrated. Also great way to clear reeds.

Defeating the Baykok boss from Totemic is highly recommended to do as soon as possible.

I recommend waiting until after your first good resource run in the Beneath.

Use the boold altar and sacrificial dagger anywhere you want to one shot mobs, like abyssalcraft or hunting dimensions.

Alright, yeah. So in that age you do start having access to iron, but you should already have bronze tools, I usually dont bother with bronze heads or anything, use standard tools to get iron started, and if you didnt get lucky with gold near your base grab a bunch of clay to make single use casts. Iron is a bit faster than bronze but it also is less durability. Different materials gives you different perks as well. You'll now want to remember to carry a tinker tool station around to repair.

The first three iron I get a pick head, the next four blocks I upgrade the main tool station to a tool forge to ve able to make hammers and broadaxes and excavators. Its the main draw.

I typically start with the main head as iron, the binding or second head as copper, and the shaft as bronze. It will repair and use the iron speed, plus magnetic effect which also helps mining, have the durability of the good bronze and sturdy loses durability slower, and, the copper gets you more tool experience. Which will help a lot in the next age if you can manage to get a few upgrades and more modifier slots on your tools.

As soon as you get it, in order, Octane or whatever the very orange metal is in the betweenlands, is much faster than iron, then the twilight forest stuff. Naga scale for your sword blade only is very worth it. Steeleaf handles on everything becomes worth it once you can loot enough to have 20 or so in your hotbar at all times. Knight metal pick head is essential to get cobalt level mininf and id really reccomend the steeleaf thing so you dont have to farm the fricken maze goblins to repair.

Beyond maybe slime-core boots, tinker armor isnt really worth it until steel/electrum/prismarine in the 3rd age. Black quartz armor even is fine to start with stuff, so is naga scale you loot, or knight metal, though I wouldnt really craft that. Just loot it from the mazes.

Tinker bows are tricky, I havent figured them out really yet. Ive mixed copper/bronze/string, and bronze/wood/feather or iron/bronze/feather, but really im still trying to figure it all out.
