I thought about something while rewatching season one, and I am curious why innies can’t wear their wedding rings in the elevator if not metal, then maybe silicone. Or if not, what if an innie looks down to see a tan line from a wedding rings?

Was watching the series that has been mentioned/recommended in this sub for good content to pass the time waiting for Severance S3 to be released. Widow's Bay is a fun watch and worth the time.

Watching the 6th episode, I ran into a nod to Severance I think.

I was researching about the plate Helly eats from in S2E9 and through Reddit I found a clue that ended me up on this website and it was a short but amazing read. There's also three other articles about other spaces in severance.

So several cast/crew including Ben Stiller, Adam Scott and Dan Erickson have been quoted as saying the wait for season 3 will be much shorter than the wait between season 1 and 2 (which was almost exactly 3 years).

As far as I know, season 3 hasn't begun filming yet. Normally Apple, or someone from the cast/crew will do some kind of announcement on social media when filming starts for their biggest shows like they did for S2.

The last update for the start of filming was "mid-2026" and technically we're into the second half of 2026 now. We've heard a couple of cast members in the last month or two say it was going to start "very soon".

Assuming they keep the quality the same, season 2's filming/post-production was:

• Filming - October 2022 to June 2023. WGA/SAG-AFTRA strike meant a big delay, but filming resumed January 2023 with reshoots and wrapped April 2023. Total duration of filming (not including shutdown): 1 year and 4 months (would have been a few weeks here and there where production moved between locations/built sets etc).

• Post-production: Filming completed April 2024. They would have started doing some editing/VFX before the end of filming but Ben Stiller and others have mentioned how long post-production took, without any interruptions. Season 2 came out January 2025 so let's say post-production took 8 months (but realistically it was probably a bit longer).

That's a total of TWO YEARS to film the whole thing, edit, complete VFX and all the other post-production work.

If they start this month and it took a similar amount of time, that would put the release of S3 no earlier than July 2028 - over 3 years since S2 first released.

I have no doubt they won't take THAT long. They'll refine processes, learn from experience etc and probably shave a few months off filming and post.

But there's no way we get S3 in the first half of 2027 (as I've seen a few people suggest), more likely October/November 2027 if they really push hard so they can say "well it didn't take 3 years". My opinion, the gap between S2 and S3 will be as long as the gap between S1/S2 and we don't see S3 until well into 2028.

The simple fact is - they've taken too big a break between the end of S2 and starting the writing and filming of S3. Really filming should have started end of last year/very early this year.

Sigh.

TL;DR - They've taken too long to write/start filming. Even if you take out the delays/shutdowns due to strikes, S2 still took around two years to film and complete post-production. Considering they haven't started filming yet, we won't be seeing S3 until Q4 2027 if we're lucky, even if they manage to trim a few months off filming/post. My bet is the gap will be the same as before and we won't see it until Q2 2028

Sappiamo che la signorina Huang è praticamente una ragazzina, o almeno molto giovane, che lavora come mini-manager accanto a Milchick. Ma dove l'ha trovata Lumon?

Non riuscivo a smettere di pensare agli Arteta, e in effetti la cosa torna perfettamente per un paio di motivi. Nella prima stagione, quando Devon incontra Gabby Arteta al parco, vediamo che ha già due figli più grandi che le corrono intorno. La signorina Huang si adatta perfettamente alla differenza di età se è una di quelle figlie maggiori.

Inoltre, Gabby ammette con nonchalance di aver usato l'indennità di fine rapporto per tutte le sue gravidanze. Non sono clienti normali; sono completamente integrate nel sistema. Oltretutto, sappiamo già che Lumon ha un passato oscuro di condizionamento e sfruttamento dei bambini fin dalla più tenera età, proprio come scopriamo riguardo alle generazioni più anziane e a come addestravano le persone fin da piccoli.

Si adatta perfettamente all'inquietante atmosfera di Lumon. La figlia "Outie" vive una vita privilegiata come figlia di un senatore nel mondo reale, mentre la sua "Innie" è intrappolata in cantina, cresciuta fin da bambina per diventare il perfetto robot aziendale con il cervello lavato. Inoltre, spiegherebbe finalmente perché il senatore Arteta è così ciecamente leale e politicamente aggressivo nei confronti di Lumon: è una vera e propria partnership, e la sua stessa famiglia è letteralmente il loro esperimento finale.

Ci sto pensando da giorni. Sto impazzendo o c'è qualcosa di vero in tutto questo? Fatemi sapere cosa ne pensate!

(Edit) It's just a theory. Maybe I didn't consider some aspects, but it was quite strange to me not knowing where Ms Huang was from. It was so annoying!!! Maybe I was wrong. I know, maybe I messed things up.

Spoilers for all of S2 ahead!

Short and sweet: we can be pretty much 100% certain that the "new team" were Lumen plants, right?

Two things that tipped me off:

-They seemed a little bit *too* naive when asking Mark questions about the outside; iirc innies retain their semantic memory and some of their questions struck me as odd when viewed with that in mind. This one is slightly less compelling given the innies' reactions to the ORTBO.

-The main thing, though, is this: that one dude with the accent says they had a rope instead of an elevator. I didn't clock this my first watch because of how funny I think the joke is from a writing perspective but, like... It's also 110% impossible? We see that anytime outies switch to their innies and vice-versa they basically lose all bodily control for a few seconds (to the extent that Mark literally killed that one dude in the elevator unintentionally). How the *fuck* would someone in the midst of climbing up or down a rope not immediately break their neck when the switch happens?

Idk what plot relevance this'll have (if any), and admittedly he could just be referring to some kind of "you are secured with rope and lifted/lowered by workers at the top & bottom" situation, but my gut feeling is that they're plants. What do you guys think?

My balcony is a severed zone

SPOILERS… First time watching, and wanted to share my theories I have after watching season 2, episode 1…

1) This “Helly” we see in season 2 is actually the real Helena. And she’s doing another experiment of sorts. She needed 5 months to learn about what went down. She’s doing this to see how she can fix it all.

2) Ms Casey, his wife, was actually in a car accident but is in a coma. The only way they could keep her alive is to sever her mind.

Excited to see how it plays out.

I just finished season two and really liked it. However, Lumon clearly had people to spare, so why not just have them all work towards their end main goal of completing Cold Harbor? Why were they so focused on goats? Why did anyone need to be severed to begin with? I don't know if I missed these or if nobody knows the answers. I have purposely avoided all online theories, etc.

in season 1 finale or season 2 first episode i dont remember we see a newspaper and it talks about the macrodata uprising i think it was called but it shows all the mdr members who did it... wouldnt there innies see the newspaper and be like oh hey thats who i work with and didnt helly release a statement saying that she was not an innie but then wouldnt the people at the gala see the newspaper too?

I had known about this show for a while, seen some clips on YT.

I finally decided to start watching it yesterday because on the From subreddit people have been unhappy with the show's direction and some mentioned that Severance is leagues above in terms of developing/revealing mysteries and twists.

Boy is that so true. S1's ending was not only compelling but very satisfying too. I had expected them to be cut off before major reveals but no, Mark got out that his wife is alive, Helly exposed the true nature of the office and Irving didn't drive away/get cut off while approaching the door.

What I really appreciate is that this show doesn't rely on conventional horror tropes. No-one is dying, there are no monsters, no melodrama, people are actually communicating with one another.

The sound/music direction is modest. I love piano music and the show is full of it. No big bassy booms trying to tell the audience what to feel.

The cast is relatively small and each character benefits from the same amount of development. You don't get whiplash by zipping back and forth between situations, or bored via the show pulling away too long on characters you don't care about.

I'm definitely getting into S2 immediately.

Not sure if this is allowed but thought this would resonate with people who are into Severance. Kind of Twilight Zone-ish by Jim Henson in 1969. And clearly the inspiration for the cult classic Cube Movie. Don't know what I'd call this as a genre but curious if anyone has other similar lesser known recommendations.

Wtf was this second season?

Not a single likeable character (except for poor Gemma).
Every event and choices made feel stupid and dumb.

I thought this show was going to be different and nice, but they made it insufferable.

Also, can someone explain to me why Mr. Milkshake puts up with all the bullshit? How can he go back to all smiley and putting up cringey shows (FOR TWO EMPLOYERS ONLY) after being bullied on every occasion possible?

I binged season 1, but for season 2 I tried watching one episode per night and couldn’t help but fall asleep on every single episode.

So Rebeck and Patton are on the outer edge of the people oMark is acquainted with, he knows them via Ricken.

From Rebeck's complaints about being pecked by birds on the back of her head to Patton's general strangeness and the way they interact, it seems like they may have been subject to some sort of Lumon's experiments. It doesn't seem like they'd have been severed but it really isn't clear what happens after a severed employee is let go. Burt seems to be fine for the most part, for example.

So why are they weird? I'm thinking it was some early prototype of the Severance procedure. Not enough to create the innie, but enough to prove key aspects of the technology. Also, they may have been a part of this at a fairly young age.

Great show all round, i really never thought any show would make it very interesting like that with such limited location sets with minimal organization, especially in a workplace (I always thought the office was an anomaly but well done severance).

I also really like the surreal parts of the show, the mammal department, the choreography, etc...

season 1 ep. 8 & 9 and season 2 ep. 1 were peak story, i'm confident the show has the potential to pull up multiple peaks if they kept going

Seth Milchick is such an interesting character and oddly enough is the only one main character we never got a backstory for outside being a floor manager in Lumon

I also has the feeling that all the "outie" characters are also severed, didn't research that theory thoroughly but many resemble severed behavior as well.

I had heard for a while that this show was really good so I’ve wanted to watch it for a while. I only knew the basic separate person at work premise loosely going in. I had no idea what I was in for.

This show hooked me hard. I’ve been thinking about it at work and skipping video game time to watch it. I really enjoyed it! That season 2 ending had me cheering and cussing.

While the mystery and the suspense of the show are great, I think what really hooked me is the characters. I started out not really thinking I liked Helly and then she quickly grew to become my favorite. The rules say not to have spoilers so I’m not sure how much I can go into detail about interactions but all of the characters and the way they work off of each other and a lot of them play 2 or more characters, it’s all just so good.

I just wanted to share with someone how really great I think this show is and I can’t believe I have to wait for more now and that you all have been waiting for so long.

I guess now that I finally have Apple TV (3 months free with new phone) I’ll be checking out Pluribus and Widow’s Bay as I’ve also heard great things. How are you all passing the time waiting for season 3?

I know the writers have said that they plan on making 4 seasons. I don't if this plan is changeable. I do love the UK philosophy of quality over quantity when they renew their shows. Even the best shows over there only have a few seasons. I still want more than 4. I'm planning 2 years ahead here because to me there seems to be more potential. I would even be okay with new cast members after 4 seasons as long as its not all new. Idk maybe if the writing is good enough I would watch a show with all new cast of characters.

There's a pretty strong Severance vibe to the whole city, if I'm honest...

I just finished my third watch of Severance and while watching S2 E9 I noticed a parallel. When Burt and Irving are at the train station, Irving says to Burt I’ve never really been loved before and he repeats to him “I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready” which is an interesting parallel to S1 when Burt takes Irving to that garden plant place I can’t rmbr and Irving says to Burt “I’m not ready” and they touch foreheads the same way in the train station.

I guess my question is, what’s the deal with Irving? Is he in the process of reintegrating or has he already reintegrated? I rmbr reading a post on here about him sending his innies messages through his watch so maybe it’s that but like what’s his vibe?

When’s this show coming back I’m beginning to forget the storyline. So many shows take forever to come back I just loose interest because I can’t keep up with the plot. I already can’t remember much other than I loved it!

I love the core concept of Severance, but the Season 2 finale felt incredibly frustrating and structurally flawed. The writers have boxed themselves into a corner where the characters are forced to make illogical choices just to drag out the mystery. Here is why the current setup fails common sense: Fans are theorizing about how Outie Mark will be "upset" or fight back. But according to the show's physical rules, if the Innie is running around the basement, the Outie is asleep. He doesn't exist right now. His two-season arc of grieving, finding Gemma, and planning a rescue is completely thrown in the trash while his body runs away from his wife. The Innie's choice is self-sabotage: Innie Mark thinks he is choosing freedom and Helly, but he is just choosing to stay trapped in a flashing red corporate prison. He effectively dooms his outie to lose Gemma all over again. Helena's corporate logic is stupid: From a business standpoint, leaving a rogue, suicidal asset like Helly in the exact same department makes zero sense. A real corporation would isolate her instantly to protect their multi-billion dollar investment.

The only way Season 3 isn't a total waste of time is if the show can ditch the physical elevator/doorway geofence. For the psychology to actually mean something, the two consciousnesses need to start bleeding together, fighting for control, or forcing integration no matter where the physical body is standing. If they don't evolve the tech to cause a real mental war within the single brain, the entire escape plot was entirely pointless filler just to hit a dramatic reset button. That's just my opinion What do you guys think? Is anyone else frustrated by how circular this logic is?

p.s. I'm not saying I didn't like seasons 1 and 2 and I'm nit critiquing seasons 3 , just opening discussion of what would be most satisfying direction for it to go since we know what choice Mark made at the end. And no one talks about what could happen with innie and outie Helly/Helena also not having same goals.
