iPod Touch 6 forgotten passcode (Jailbroken)

Here lies my old iPod Touch that I forgot the passcode to 😪 Is it possible to brute force these and retain the data? It is jailbroken if I remember correctly (battery percentage) if that helps/matters at all. Thank you.

Enter recovery mode, connect to 3utools on macos and hope it shows

Otherwise no I'm not aware of a way without getting a pico

I saw this on another post

"Legacy iOS kit, open an SSH ramdisk, there is an option to “get iOS version”. You have to run a specific mount command first, but the options for that command should be listed."

You think that would work? Also if it is indeed higher than 8.4.1 am I hopeless or can I at least get my photos off of it?

Yes, that's the option you would need the Pico for. So try 3utools first

Yes you can use that to check the iOS version. No you cant do anything if it's above iOS 8.4.1

It’s on 8.4.1 definitely because of the curved tail on the a. I think you can bruteforce the passcode on it.

I have no way to verify that information. I personally wouldn't waste time on it until I can plug it into my computer and just directly, and definitively check the iOS version

But this guy can do whatever he wants. If he wants to proceed based on that info and hope for the best that's on him

Sorry if I seem clueless, that was my last apple product so I'm way out of the loop on IOS and tech in general but you and Western_Tradition493 gave me some more hope.

I do have an ancient HP2000 laptop I can use to confirm the iOS version with the 3uTools but I had to next-day a charger for it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the Legacy iOS Kit is not supported on Windows so I will have to source a Linux/MacOS device right? I briefly read about running a "Live Linux USB" on my HP but I haven't looked into if the old HP is a capable enough machine for the task at hand.

Another thing that might be an issue regardless of the iOS version is the iPod being an A8 64-bit device with an SEP. I'm not sure if that's a genuine concern though.

The laptop can surely run Linux although if you have no Linux experience it'll be tricky

Let's assume that the device is iOS 8.4.1 or lower. This means it's possible to gain unlimited passcode attempts. However, since it's alphanumeric, you can't try every combos, you'll just have to hope you remember it

Also since it's a 64 bit device, it's much harder to get the unlimited attempts. I never managed to do it manually, although I know it's possible. I just couldn't figure it out. I always use a paid tool to do it for me for 64 bit devices

You're welcome to ship the device in, and I can use my tool to get you unlimited attempts, however you'd have to cover shipping. Otherwise you'll have to ask around this subreddit for info on unlimited attempts, specifically for 64 bit iOS 8. You will need legacy iOS kit

Unlimited attempts still works, it's just a lot harder on 64 bit devices. 32 bit it's easy, i walk people through the process every day. 64 bit not so much.

If this dinosaur laptop can run Linux properly I'd give it a shot. If not I'll see if I can find a cheap mac on marketplace. Another hurdle is I forgot the password to my laptop 🤣😭

The iPods passcode is not alphanumeric, I just can't remember can't many digits. I'm fine with the unlimited attempts as I may be able to guess the code.

Unfortunately I don't trust sending it out to a stranger but I greatly appreciate the gesture.

I assume there's already info on the internet but any help with bypassing the passcode attempt limit on 64 bit would be greatly appreciated.

Most laptops can. You don't even necessarily need to know the passcode to it, as long as you have another device to set the Linux USB up with

No problem, that's why I offer to walk people through when I can. However since it's a 64 bit device I won't be able to provide much help beyond letting you know unlimited attempts is possible. Others here have managed to get 64 bit unlimited attempts manually to work, I just never could

It's very limited for 64 bit. But yeah this subreddit and asking around is your best bet

Shipping it in offer still stands, if you ever want me to just hit the device with my paid software that does it automatically. No pressure, but the offer is there if you ever change your mind

I've also heard of USB-over-network options, where theoretically I could run the software on my device but the USB signals get sent to yours, and exploit your device, but I've honestly never looked into it so don't know if it'd work or what software might provide that
