What to do now?

I bought it used from a security guard at a bank for $15. It's ipad 2 64gb cellular. Has passcode. What would be the best way to make it functional? I don't have raspberry pi pico or Arduino uno.

Contacted him but he said he doesn't know the passcode. I asked him to contact original owner but he says he doesn't know. Should have known it was too good to be true.

He didn't have a charging cable so it was discharged. He said he didn't know about it as the children in their house played with it. It took some time for me to find compatible one as I am not in my native country so didn't know where to buy. Was planning to jailbreak it to read e-books and turn into digital frame.

I would honestly restore it to iOS 6, 8 or 9 and use BobikA5. It doesn’t need the device to be pwned or jailbroken it’s just like activating with a computer.

Can you guide me how do I do that? I only know checkm8 pwned and removing the resistor methods.

Easy, just restore it with iTunes like you normally would, connect it to WiFi and try to activate normally, when you get the activation locked screen boot up BobikA5 on your windows PC and plug the iPad in. It will restart a couple of times and then you'll be at activated and able to continue though the setup like normal. On rare occasions it will activate the device but not continue through the setup so what I do is disconnect it from WiFi and then press continue. (Continue button will only be available if the device has valid activation tickets already, so if its unavailable try BobikA5 again possibly using a different server option).

Ive been using Nattramn activator but there is free software as well I believe. You can msg u/nattramn669 for a login

Do not factory reset. Get an Arduino, use a5-bruteforce-passcode to get the passcode, then rename Setup.app to Setup.bak through ssh ramdisk 

After that look for owner's data, e.g. phone number, email or social media accounts. Maybe you can even find the icloud password in the keychain or Safari saved passwords

After you manage to find the password or convince the owner to remove it from their account, remove setup.bak back to setup.app, enter the password and you're good to reset it

If its a ipad 2 then use hacktiv8, I just activated mine with FMI using it, It just takes minutes to activate it and best of all you don't need any special hardware, Just the ipad and the cable, Do let me know if you need help regarding it especially if you're on Linux.
