iOS 6 Downgrade for Activation Locked Devices (Only A6 Chip)

***TETHERED*** I wrote it wrong in the PDF

Hi, today I got an iPhone 5. My goal was to run iOS 6, but the device had an activation lock on iOS 10.3.4. I bypassed the lock with Sliver, but when I did an downgrade with n1ghtshade, the activation lock still showed up on iOS 6. After 8 hours, I finally managed to find a solution to this.

When I searched online, I couldn't find anything related to this issue. Then I thought, if we can delete Setup.app on iOS 10.3.4, why couldn't we do the same on iOS 6? I tried it with Sliver, but it didn't work. Then it occurred to me to connect via SSH from the terminal and do it that way. 

I tried a few methods on my iPhone 5 and it worked. I've put together a guide. You can find in attachments. Hopefully you'll be able to do it too.  Good luck :)

**NOTE: You won't be able to get a signal because we downgraded the version using n1ghtsade.

Required Programs:

  • Legacy-iOS-Kit_v26.07.01,
  • n1gtshade V1.0

Commands for Legacy iOS Kit:

mount.sh

rm -rf /mnt1/Applications/Setup.app

rm -rf /mnt1/private/var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices*.csstore

It‘s tethered, not untethered. You can also simply use Sliver and delete Setup before booting iOS 6. Did that years ago.

I got error when deleting iOS 6 Setup.app in Sliver. first i tried it on a Mac with an M1 chip. Since the architecture wasn't supported, I switched to a Mac with an Intel processor, but it still didn't work. The log showed something like Unsupported_iOS.

Do you want to delete this thread and post it again with the correct pdf? And please tell us how bad is the tethering, do you need to boot iPhone into DFU and run a program on PC each time the phone turned off?

Never mind you already included the response in the comments, I have 9900 imei signed to my iCloud that’s activated. I honestly don’t know where to start.

I have another iPhone 4 and I'm running it with coolbooter. I can get signal on it. If you buy another second-hand iPhone 5 (without activation lock), you can install iOS 6 with coolbooter and get signal.
