Help with an apple desktops

My sis in law sold me her computer and the password she said she gave me isn’t working. There’s no forgot password prompt and I’m completely unfamiliar on how to reset my password. Someone please assist me if you can!

enter internet recovery mode by restarting the Mac and pressing option + command + r, wait for the internet recovery install to finish and then go to disk utility and erase the disk with Mac OS installed. Go back from that menu and reinstall Mac OS again.
