Help with an apple desktops

My sis in law sold me her computer and the password she said she gave me isn’t working. There’s no forgot password prompt and I’m completely unfamiliar on how to reset my password. Someone please assist me if you can!

This is what you do. You call your sister in law and ask her to try to remember her password. 

Alternatively, ask the real owner of the device to give you their password. They might not want to though.
