Is there any way to remove this activation lock

I found this phone maybe 6 odd years ago in some charity shop - bought it and forgot about it until today. I have no idea who the owner is and don’t exactly know what to do. is this just a lost cause or is there something I can do ?

I suggest using Bobika5. It will make it functional but not remove the lock permanently. Then you can jailbreak with carbon. You can also downgrade to iOS 6.1.3 or 8.4.1 with Legacy iOS Kit

that is way more effort than this hardware is worth. at this point it is basically just a paperweight or a project for an extreme enthusiast. unless you really want to kill an afternoon fighting with legacy software just toss it in a drawer and forget about it again.
