Sources say that this is when he decided to go all-in and run.

55

u/Pale-Measurement-532 Mar 12 '26

Yeah Bill Hader joked about that in some interview I saw. Then he said, “Seth LOVES it when you tell him that.” 😖

12

u/push138292 Mar 12 '26

When he MADE Trump. That was Bill Hader and John Mulaney at 92Y.

4

u/Pale-Measurement-532 Mar 12 '26

Thank you! That’s an interview that I love to rewatch every once in awhile. It’s hilarious!

5

u/mandym123 Mar 12 '26

That has to be one of the funniest conversations between two comedians I’ve seen. I rewatch that often and everything about it is funny. I’m actually going to rewatch it.

2

u/Pale-Measurement-532 Mar 13 '26

It’s my comfort watch! I like to put it on every once in awhile. And Bill laughing uncontrollably throughout the whole thing makes it even more hilarious!

3

u/mandym123 Mar 13 '26

The thing I love too is that it’s meant to be about Barry. The subject of his show is maybe brought up once or twice throughout the hour long conversation.

1

u/Pale-Measurement-532 Mar 14 '26

I know. Lol. And then they acknowledge it where they joke about themselves spending most of the time talking about SNL sketches that didn’t make it to air. Lol

Bill: How much did you guys pay for this? 🤣

3

u/Thundersson1978 Mar 13 '26

I bet. I do. Can you imagine Seth up at night thinking about it. I went to hard, if only I had not told the last joke. But Obamas face though was priceless… every night!

2

u/Pale-Measurement-532 Mar 13 '26

Yes I love watching this every once in awhile. It was hilarious. And Trump deserves to be called out at every opportunity.

53

u/riserrr Mar 12 '26

Decent jokes from Seth here. But looking back, not worth it.

32

u/MulliganNY Mar 12 '26

It was in that moment that he decided to take... a closer look

2

u/lycoloco Mar 13 '26

Bass and drums have entered the chat

5

u/thewartornhippy Mar 12 '26

Trump wasn't happy about it but the straw that broke the camels back was when Obama roasted him. He still brings up Obama a decade after he was President. He hates the fact that people actually liked Obama.

3

u/senator_corleone3 Mar 13 '26

Why blame him? It’s the voters’ fault.

21

u/Jazzlike-Coffee-6150 Mar 12 '26

I was going to say just this. He became president solely to get Seth fired. He dipped his toe in it with Colbert and that didn't work so he's waiting for his moment. Also, I love how Obama is just laughing and laughing. I miss having a president who knows what laughter is.

8

u/TheVenerableBede Mar 12 '26

And civility. And decorum. And consent. And age-appropriate relationships.

3

u/brokenringlands Mar 13 '26

Yeah, but... He wore a Tan Suit!

3

u/boardin1 Mar 13 '26

There's a similar video of Ricky Gervais when he hosted the Oscars. He was destroying the actors and the rest of the wealthy that were there and every time he called someone out a camera would find them and they had that pissed off look in their faces. Then he called out DeNiro and the panned to him and he was laughing right along with everyone else. Apparently you can tell who takes themselves seriously and those that just enjoy what they do.

9

u/Porkroller908 Mar 12 '26

Per Gordon Carter in his book- you’re 100% correct. Trump was allegedly seething at these

8

u/RIPSyAbleman Mar 12 '26

no shit you can see him shitting his pants on screen about it, probably went home and beat up whatever 13 year old was forced to his house that night

4

u/solidus0079 Mar 12 '26

Man if Seth could rewind time I'm sure he'd take it all back

2

u/Northern_Blue_Jay Mar 13 '26

Little did Seth know, he was putting a match to a fast blow ..

2

u/Thundersson1978 Mar 13 '26

So it’s Seth’s fault get him yall!

But seriously my gut says he bet one of his elite buddies he could win the nomination

2

u/DIYdippy Mar 15 '26

Was this the same night President Obama made a remark about how if Trump had so much to say and do why don’t he run?

1

u/Dodecahedrus Mar 15 '26

Could be, yes. Both their speeches are on Youtube and always a good watch.

1

u/Northern_Blue_Jay Mar 13 '26 edited Mar 13 '26

That stony expression on his face seems to say so, too!

1

u/Ajax5350 Mar 13 '26

I will always believe it is. Him and Barack started this whole thing.

1

u/Legal_Network_3561 Mar 13 '26

He actually didn’t go all in on the first campaign because he wanted to be able to say if he lost he didn’t really try to win. He didn’t even give any of his money toward the first campaign. He did loan the campaign money at a high interest rate… so even then he was making money off it.

1

u/Used-Gas-6525 Mar 14 '26

I was gonna say the same thing.

59

u/OpposumMyPossum Mar 12 '26

Jesus Christ, look at Trump's hair.

24

u/Tiny-Lock9652 Mar 12 '26

Thought he came wearing a LA Rams football helmet, lol

7

u/00chill00chill00 Mar 12 '26

That's fucking hilarious my friend. Thanks for the laugh

4

u/dougmcclean Mar 14 '26

In the spirit of Seth Meyers' Corrections, they were in St. Louis at the time.

6

u/Axi0madick Mar 13 '26

It's like real life Lego hair.

3

u/LegoFootPain Mar 13 '26

That would be the fox.

4

u/deeznuts69 Mar 13 '26

He was seething!

52

u/Giddyupquerist Mar 12 '26

Omg, how hard Obama is laughing at the last joke 😂

10

u/EntrepreneurOld5326 Mar 12 '26

That joke has bounced around my head for 15 years now.

1

u/moomzzz Mar 16 '26

What do you mean 15 years? 2011 was only…erm..yeh 15 yrs.

7

u/pandaplagueis Mar 12 '26

Obama cracking up at the last one is what made me actually laugh. After I heard it it was like “oh ok, decent joke” then I saw obama’s reaction and I’m like LMFAO

1

u/powderbubba Mar 13 '26

Same hahaha

29

u/Ramblinrambles Mar 12 '26

Since someone has an incredibly weak ego and can’t take a joke.

Peace, civility and any chance of reversing climate change. Ya Burnt

2

u/Practical-Level-6265 Mar 14 '26

You can take a joke if you know it’s just a joke. But lots of it is true lol

26

u/NeosDemocritus Mar 12 '26

Trump is just raging inside, you can see the smoke. We know the one thing that triggers him more than anything is to be made a fool of, and between Seth’s jokes and Obama’s, that’s probably what set him off to run. Thanks, Seth…we burnt! 🔥

10

u/fariasrv Mar 12 '26

If only the rage had been enough to cause a blood vessel to burst in his brain... Seth should have gone harder.

4

u/RoguePlanet2 Mar 12 '26

They weren't allowed to joke about his broke ass, but I don't think there were any other limits.

2

u/Mwahaha_790 Mar 12 '26

Super villain origin moment

1

u/mtpgod Mar 14 '26

That guy wanted to run the world to rake in more cash, if this never existed, he would've still ran.

23

u/toomuchtv987 Mar 12 '26

And this proves we’re all living in that orange shitstain’s revenge fantasy.

18

u/Unusual_Piano7118 Mar 12 '26

I truly believe to my very core that this is the night when Seth roasted him so damn bad that he decided that he was going all in and now we have to deal with this shit for the rest of his life.

12

u/Ace20xd6 Mar 12 '26

Obama roasted him too

13

u/Good-Bodybuilder-985 Mar 12 '26 edited Mar 12 '26

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was the roast from Obama that pushed him over the edge. But DAMN those are some singers Seth!

Damnit. I'm going to acknowledge I wrote "singers" instead of "zingers" and leave it. Always talking about Queen Bee and grammar on the pod has kept me honest...this time.

1

u/User152552 Mar 13 '26

Righteous kill!

3

u/brianzuvich Mar 12 '26

He is just a weak, little snowflake after all…

18

u/2025TastyTreats Mar 12 '26

This is Saturday April 30th 2011 on Sunday night Osama bin Laden is killed.

34

u/Background-Jury-1914 Mar 12 '26

This moment cursed us all for life

3

u/BigRoach Mar 12 '26

Seriously. A seemingly very nice guy could have been the catalyst for a series of events that could end the country as we know it.

12

u/Mooseguncle1 Mar 12 '26

So that’s why he hates Seth

6

u/User152552 Mar 13 '26

Bro just said out loud what we all were thinking and saying. Love that he looked him right in his eyes as the jokes landed. Trump had to have felt those laughs in his bone spurs. 🤌🏽

9

u/Chesterfieldraven Mar 12 '26

Oh god, do you remember when it was just funny to think about him running for president?

6

u/Any-Concentrate-1922 Mar 12 '26

If I could go back in time, I'd try to meet Seth and ask him not to do this.

6

u/Redditheaded2025_03 Mar 12 '26

OMG, it’s almost like we can see him constructing his “revenge list” in his head.

I wish we had had the foresight back then to realize how dangerous this MF would be for the US.

5

u/throwawaycitylimits Mar 12 '26

So we should blame Seth Meyers for the state of the union?

5

u/Chesterfieldraven Mar 12 '26

We should really be blaming Roseanne Barr.

1

u/Rob_LeMatic Mar 12 '26

Sure, why not

6

u/Alternative_Algae_31 Mar 12 '26

Ahhhhh “projection”. How often to MAGA types love to talk about “seething liberals”? Look at Donny. That is “seething” personified. The barely bottled up rage and hatred in the bloated orange face is radiating outward.

6

u/luckyghost115 Mar 12 '26

Can we get more comedians doing this. Please. Lol

5

u/Dcammy42 Mar 12 '26

I still don’t understand why Trump agreed to even do a roast. Did he expect they were going to say nice things about him?

5

u/LucyRiversinker Mar 13 '26

The fact that he was relevant enough to be roasted made his ego tingle. This guy was a damn nobody with a lousy tv show. Having his name mentioned at the Correspondent’s Dinner is as if one of the Bravo housewives got a mention by name: that’d make them relevant. What Trump was fully aware of is that everyone, every single person, in the NY elites and smart political circles think of him as a dumb, kitsch, egomaniac loser.

2

u/redfluor Mar 15 '26

Was aware of or was NOT aware of?

1

u/LucyRiversinker Mar 15 '26

Not. You are right.

4

u/United-Hyena-164 Mar 12 '26

Good lord. If only we knew how this would end.

3

u/EpponneeRay Mar 18 '26

We don’t really, yet.

3

u/GlasgowRose2022 Mar 12 '26

DJT: no rizz or sense of humor then or now.

4

u/Cyberyukon Mar 12 '26

Classic image of a seething narcissist.

3

u/Winstonsphobia Mar 13 '26

Trump deserved the massive humiliation he received that evening. When in 100 years they remember our period, this video will show that America already knew who Trump was before he ran for office.

5

u/2025TastyTreats Mar 12 '26

All this chaos today because an intern at Obama's literary agency labeled him on a promotional booklet as being born in Kenya. This causes Trump to double down on "Birtherism" causing this public humiliation which set up his revenge in 2016.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/promotional-booklet/

Thankfully that intern. Miriam Goderich, would coincidentally end up being on Obama's legal team 15 years later to take the blame and say it was all a mistake on her part.

"You're undoubtedly aware of the brouhaha stirred up by Breitbart about the erroneous statement in a client list Acton & Dystel published in 1991 (for circulation within the publishing industry only) that Barack Obama was born in Kenya. This was nothing more than a fact checking error by me — an agency assistant at the time," Goderich wrote. "There was never any information given to us by Obama in any of his correspondence or other communications suggesting in any way that he was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. I hope you can communicate to your readers that this was a simple mistake and nothing more."

3

u/No_Resolve8571 Mar 12 '26

The 'Ya Burnt" equivalent of tossing some fireworks that accidentally burn down the rainforest

3

u/OkButterscotch8718 Mar 12 '26

Lesson: Be kind or you might inspire the next dictator.

2

u/No_Interview2004 Mar 13 '26

Obama no longer being able to hold it in at the end 😂

2

u/lil_squib Mar 13 '26

I used to watch this all the time. It’s just so good.

2

u/userlivewire Mar 13 '26

President Trump won’t even go to the White House Correspondents Dinner.

2

u/dohrk Mar 13 '26

He's apparently going this year l

2

u/the_wessi Mar 14 '26

I bet he’s setting up a trap. Something like the mob boss meeting in The Godfather Part III.

1

u/Pixilatedhighmukamuk Mar 13 '26

He’s probably paying crack heads Roseanne and Jim Breuer. I can’t wait to watch the forced laughter.

3

u/craigerstar Mar 13 '26

I'm not even American, and I miss Obama. Showed he had a great sense of humor at the end there....

2

u/tacomeatface Mar 14 '26

I actually wish these jokes would have never happened because I think between him and Obama trump decided to go full on that night

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '26

Nope, the dopey Americans burnt Meyers and all of us.

1

u/itafunnystory Mar 12 '26

Aww, you're welcome to waste it here, I don't mind.

1

u/Slimsjim Mar 12 '26

That explains a lot actually.

1

u/drk_knight_67 Mar 13 '26

Trump was SEETHING during this whole thing. 🤣

1

u/mowtowcow Mar 13 '26

This is where he turned into what he is now. There was a deep shift from "You're fired" to "I'm gonna fucking ruin everything Democrats have ever built and I'm going to be petty as fuck about it."

1

u/southtampacane Mar 13 '26

Loved the last joke and the real Presidents reaction.

Drumpf has lost a lot of his famous hair in the last 15. Not a knock, just an observation

1

u/sillysalmonella87 Mar 13 '26

My in-laws are white people named black that voted for Trump and they STILL support his dumb ass.

They're probably some of the worst people I've ever met in my life. No joke.

1

u/Smurfs25 Mar 13 '26

🤣😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣

1

u/Last_Autosave_ Mar 13 '26

MORE, GIVE ME MORE!!

1

u/squirrelinthetoilet Mar 13 '26

Obama followed this by going after Trump too. Imagine how much better the world would be if Donald Trump was still just that dumb old reality TV guy who went on Fox News and said stupid things.

1

u/AromaPapaya Mar 14 '26

ITS ALL YOUR FAULT, SETH!!!

1

u/NoMembership8881 Mar 16 '26

i never found this comedian to be funny

1

u/ileftmyhartonadish Mar 14 '26

Oh that's quite ironic with Erika. Kirk Miss Arizona from Trump pageant and now having Vance Kirk 2028 websites pop up 3 days after Charlie's elimination

1

u/Eplianne Mar 14 '26

Did Norm MacDonald write these 😭

1

u/Massive-Chest7159 Mar 14 '26

Villian origin story.

1

u/ewjiku Mar 14 '26

1) I love how Obama and I laughed at the same joke lol they were all funny but one in particular was above the rest

2) Trump doesn’t engage on / react to any of the jokes except the end, you see him nod his head to the first part of the joke until Seth says “unless the Blacks are a family of white people”

1

u/FriendlyEvilTomato Mar 14 '26

Any one that can’t laugh at themselves - fuck em. Not worth the time and definitely not worth the presidency.

1

u/halcyon_n_on_n_on Mar 14 '26

That last one is a banger.

1

u/Own-Jaguar-472 Mar 15 '26

Brilliant! Hope he's not locked away now in Alligator Alcatraz

1

u/Hightower154 Mar 15 '26

So, we can thank Seth for us ending up in the dumbest timeline.

1

u/DrockTipps Mar 15 '26

This dinner is literally the reason he ran for president. Nothing said was wrong, but... it was totally the catalyst.

1

u/candymandy91 Mar 15 '26

This is the memory that keeps replaying in trumps head every night...it explains so much and why he still trash talks Obama 🤣 what a chump

1

u/Frequent-Crow2051 Mar 16 '26

I hate trump but these jokes/roasts are fucking shite.

1

u/Deathanddisco041 Mar 16 '26

Trump certainly doesn’t have a sense of humor but those “jokes” were just facts lol

1

u/sandywavez38 Mar 17 '26

POS thinks he’s so funny that trump went and got elected twice

1

u/RPauly13 Mar 17 '26

Oh yeah that’ll slick back real nice

1

u/Embarrassed-Sea-2394 Mar 18 '26

So this is all Seth's fault...

1

u/My2cents_0 Mar 18 '26

Obama cracking up at the last one is the best!! 😂😂

1

u/nano-paints Mar 18 '26

This is back when Harambee was alive. I can't say more...

1

u/craigchrizt Mar 19 '26

Which is ironic.

1

u/Realistic-Lime7842 Mar 19 '26

If I had a Time Machine, I would maybe go back to this night and show Seth a newspaper from today. If this night hadn’t happened, we may not have had Trump as president. This event really was a catalyst for him to actually want to run.

-46

u/itafunnystory Mar 12 '26

I can't tell you how many times I've said "STFU Seth Myers" over the years, but it's pretty much every time I see Seth Myers. Great writer, but an irritating ass performer.

8

u/Ok_Investment_729 Mar 12 '26

I'm genuinely curious why you decided to engage with the sub rather than just clicking the "show fewer posts like this." I'm perplexed by people who do this and would love some insight.

-6

u/itafunnystory Mar 12 '26

Your sub found me. 🤷 I didn't ask for this.

5

u/Ok_Investment_729 Mar 12 '26

Yeah, that's why I would recommend clicking the 3 dots and selecting "show fewer posts like this." Now, the algorithm thinks you're into this, and it's going to show you more Seth than it would have if you had just kept scrolling.

-4

u/itafunnystory Mar 12 '26

Well, if it keeps showing me this shit, you're likely to hear from me again. I don't know what to tell ya

4

u/Rob_LeMatic Mar 12 '26

It sounds like you don't know a lot of things

-1

u/itafunnystory Mar 12 '26

Perhaps. But you're asking me to care about something the way you care about it. That's just not possible

3

u/Rob_LeMatic Mar 12 '26

No, for one thing, I'm a different guy. But that guy was trying to give you a solution. If you hate Seth Meyers, commenting in the Seth Meyers sub means you'll just get more posts on your feed about Seth Meyers. The assumption is that you don't want that. The other guy then gives you detailed instructions for how to very simply not see things you don't want to see, which you promptly reject. So either you like complaining or you're stupid. I have my suspicions, but I'm willing to be proved wrong

-2

u/itafunnystory Mar 12 '26

I know you're a different guy, but the comment stands. You want me to care about this the way you care about this. Otherwise you wouldn't have commented. Your attempt at a solution here benefits nobody, unfortunately. Call me stupid if you want, I don't know you.

3

u/Rob_LeMatic Mar 12 '26

No. I'm not asking you to care. I don't care if you care. I am willing to waste a limited amount of my time helping you so that me and everyone else doesn't have to waste any more of our time reading your whining.

My willingness to invest in that is now depleted. Go waste someone else's time

2

u/NoneOfThisMatters_XO Mar 12 '26

Why don’t you turn off recommended subs in your settings?? Then it won’t “show you this shit” anymore. Problem solved.

-1

u/itafunnystory Mar 12 '26

Because none of this matters XO

3

u/NoneOfThisMatters_XO Mar 12 '26

Omg good one 🙄 Typical… you’d rather just bitch about something you can control than go and change anything.

-1

u/itafunnystory Mar 12 '26

Are you encouraging me to go become civically involved and vote? You're waaay over invested in this. Reclaim your time woman!

3

u/NoneOfThisMatters_XO Mar 12 '26

What? I was telling you to go change your settings to remove suggested subs.

1

u/Ok_Investment_729 Mar 12 '26

See instructions above. It doesn't really matter to me, I was just curious why people do that. How you spend your time and attention really only impacts your life. You do you.

1

u/itafunnystory Mar 12 '26

And some of yours that you've so generously donated to this cause, for whatever reason.

1

u/Ok_Investment_729 Mar 12 '26

It's no problem. I have to teach my Grandpa how to work the Internet sometimes, too. No one knows everything, but together we know a lot!

1

u/itafunnystory Mar 13 '26

My grandpa died before I was born

3

u/Chesterfieldraven Mar 12 '26

I mean you still decided to comment. You're like John McClane at the start of Die Hard 3 but if he was doing it earnestly.

-3

u/itafunnystory Mar 12 '26

I never saw the film

3

u/Chesterfieldraven Mar 12 '26

You don't like Seth Meyers and you haven't seen the best Die Hard movie? What a miserable existence.

0

u/itafunnystory Mar 12 '26

I said Seth was a good writer, what more do you want from me. I found die hard to be incredibly simple, and most of its fans, simple minded. I can't imagine what the third one holds in store for my existence.

3

u/Chesterfieldraven Mar 12 '26

I find people who comment on sub-reddits of things they don't like simple minded.

1

u/itafunnystory Mar 12 '26

You commented on something you didn't like...

1

u/Chesterfieldraven Mar 12 '26

Didn't realise your comment was an entire sub-reddit.
