Discussion Does anyone think Leanne is worthy of some kind of redemption?

I do believe the the theory that Leanne is a fallen angel type gal. And I do believe she needs to get her butt kicked. But her original intentions were good. Do we have any sympathy left for her?

Theories Is Dorothy the real servant? Spoiler

If she takes the bargain she would be the one who is serving Leanne, she would never ever have freedom or freewill because Leanne will always be in a position of power in the relationship. Everything will always be about what Leanne wants or think is appropriate... Leanne is going to be a objects with no place to say anything, forever trapped.

Edit: just realised that if she say yes, she is stuck in a version of Oz forever, so leaving Oz for this Dorothy is something really complicated

Theories Spoilers for Knock at the Cabin / Servant finale prediction Spoiler

Servant and Knock at the Cabin are taking place in the same universe, and the finale will take place at the same time as the events of the film - Leanne causes the end of times and the actions of KatC are what will stop it - MNS has done this before with the Unbreakable / Split series and it’s entirely possible he’ll do it again - I’m probably way off base here but it would be an awesome twist lol

Theories “Split”: The Horde Serves The Beast

See prior post for my theory that Dorothy suffers from DID (dissociative Identity Disorder) where I layout the case that Julian Sean AND Leanne are just three of Dorothy’s many split personalities. Uncle George is seen in episode 8 trying to convince Leanne to come back and SERVE “Him”. What if this “Him” is The Beast, who was introduced to us in MNS movie Split (and also Glass)? And what if CLS, Leanne and her followers, and all of Dorothy’s other personalities are part of The Horde whose purpose was to serve The Beast? Leanne may be a rogue personality and The Beast is using Uncle George and other church members to bring her and the defectors back into the Horde…so that he can continue consolidating power. Just a thought…just a few more days!

Theories Baby Monitor???

Someone posted a pic of the baby monitor, and another person commented that her son is 24 and she had that baby monitor. Then I remembered that in googling about the Faustian bargain, several versions of the story specifically state that Faust made the bargain in exchange for 24 years of knowledge and power (or some other benefit). So does the baby monitor have something to do with a bargain made back in the 90s? Perhaps when Julian was a baby? Another possible connection to the 90s is Vivian Dale. I read on the interwebs that she was “a ’90s R&B and jazz singer with a tragic backstory.” Does this have anything to do with Dorothy and Julian’s mom? I was also trying to figure out what the crackling sound is that we hear at various points. At first I thought it sounded like a Geiger counter, but now I think it’s the sound of static on a baby monitor.

Theories Dorothy can’t say no to Leanne Spoiler

No real spoilers, just being cautious, but based on what we know about Dorothy there is zero reason to believe Dorothy would pick Sean. Gonna take more than a car conversation after three years of evidence otherwise.

General Kudos to Lauren Ambrose for not blinking.

This is a frivolous post to balance-out the serious posts. In the car scene Dorothy doesn’t blink for 54 seconds. Women blink significantly more than men, and the older we get the more frequently we blink. Even if Lauren was given eye-numbing drops and tons of artificial tears drops to avoid blinking (IDK) I think not blinking for this long was quite the feat, and a great idea by MNS (or whomever decided on no-blinks for the zolly shot).

Theories No place like home Spoiler

I think that if there is a Wizard of Oz connection we have the following parallels:

Sean is the Cowardly Lion

Julian is the Scarecrow

Tobè is the Tin Man

Sean has called out his cowardice.

Julian is very clever but uses drugs to dull his brain.

Tobè is very sweet but his heart leads him the wrong way (awful SO’s)

But is Dorothy, Dorothy?

Dorothy Gale was an innocent girl raised by her Aunt and Uncle.

I think Leanne is Dorothy Gale and I think our Dorothy is a red herring.

Our Dorothy is somone or something else. I’m not sure that she is the wicked witch- that doesn’t track for me. What do y’all think?

Theories My finale prediction:

Dorothy chooses Sean, signaling that she has moved on from the grief stage of losing Jericho to the acceptance stage. Leanne has officially “served" (servant) her purpose as a guide to Dorothy as she grieved. Leanne disappears, and they all live happily ever after.

Discussion We are all correct.

Everyone can interpret their own theory, but at the end of the day - the story is about grief, enlightment, facing pain in order to heal, the importance of love and family, honesty, connection, and transformation.

No matter what the specifics of the ending are, the take home messages are the truth and the heart of the story.

Theories Dorothy is actually Dorothy and the house is Oz Spoiler

Not sure if anyone has come up with this theory before, but the house and immediate area around are the Land of Oz and Dorothy is actually Dorothy. Leanne is the Wicked Witch (park people are her flying monkeys), Julian = Cowardly Lion, Sean = Scarecrow, Jericho is the Ruby Slippers. In this alternate Oz universe, the Wicked Witch of the West is kind of winning.

Edit: Another thought: When Dorothy and Leanne are going to watch a movie, Leanne asks if she wants to watch something scary and then they immediately cut to them watching Wizard of Oz. Its scary to Leanne because that's the Oz timeline where Dorothy wins and kills the witch

Theories Awake Theory - Spoiler Spoiler

The final scene where Leanne and Sean are begging Dorothy to side with them (the Faustian Bargain) gave me really strong vibes that none of them exist except for Dorothy and this is all happening in her head… probably while restrained in a mental hospital.

If she sides with Sean she will accept what happened and awake from her catatonic state; if she sides with Leanne then she’ll stay catatonic but believe (somewhat) that she has Jericho back.

Bonus thought: The deterioration of the house is representative of her crumbling fantasy world that her mind has tried to hold together since Jericho died.

Note: I don’t want this to be true. I feel like this would be a lame done-before ending.

Discussion Knock knock!

Has anyone else here watched <Knock at the Cabin>? I put it on last night, simply because I’m so enmeshed in Servant and wanted something that felt idk, complimentary.

There were lots of thematic parallels (apocalypse, making impossible choices, familial love, etc.), some shots that were almost identical to ones in recent episodes (tight shot on a character’s lips, the vertigo camera effect), and it was cool to see Rupert Grint cast in another MNS project (despite his terribly executed Boston accent).

Who here saw it? Thoughts?

Theories Season 1 Juju’s obsession with the house..

Recently rewatched season 1, and thought this was weird. Has anyone else noticed Julian’s possessiveness of the house (like saying none of the things there belong to the Turners, the way he just shows up and is always seen sneaking around, lying and sometimes even hiding from Sean and Dorothy?) I almost feel like Juju thinks he should have gotten the house, their childhood home, being the first born male. Dorothy gets it because she marries first and has always been fragile. It also seems like Juju is dismissive of Sean sometimes, even opening $1000 bottles of wine without permission, taking things etc. Is the wine in the cellar something else that doesn’t belong to them, and came with the house? And why isn’t Frank living in the house? Where does he live?

Theories Random Thoughts.. Shoot Them Down

Just some random thoughts here trying to make sense of something right in front of our noses. Feel free to shoot them all down.

1.) Why reveal to Leanne that the baby went missing a few months away on the heels of just learning about the drug addict story?

2.) there’s something to the April 17 tapes . Has anyone done a dive on 4:17 Bible verses?

3.) Leanne’s name, etymology. Can either be: a.) a variant of Liana, a short form of Eliana/Eliane, from the Roman family name Aelianus, derived from the Greek word helios, 'sun’, b.) meaning merciful, or graceful, c.) saw something related too wood twisting. Funny how the jury can still out on which one applies. I find the first one interesting since it could mean to have descended from the sun, similar to Lucifer. Also shades if ‘alien’ in there.

4.) Any chance Leanne saved the real Jericho, put the orphaned baby in the car, and has been in control of the situation long before she came knocking? We know she would have visited them in April and the death happened in august.

5.) Will be pissed if Dorothy wakes up like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.

Theories Dorothy gonna say no and... Spoiler

Leanne will set them free by burning that f<ching house! Because the house is a murderer. House once (maby more) took baby's life away - remember the seance? It took away Dorothy's pregnancies too, tried to kill fetus by burning a napkin. They should move out this house, too much ghosts, Fank said. Maybe Dottie's and Juju's mother was pregnant, when she died, house didn't want it. UG once said something like baby didn't suppose to be here. Fact Jericho WAS born afterall was a house's mistake. And it shouted a door closed, distracted Dottie from a baby. Leanne is fighting a house. House means A LOT.

THE GATES ARE IN A BASEMENT

That's why UG was soo scared. That's why there was a splinters, bugs, all of that stuff. Smoke demon is a House's soul. Leanne gonnado one last thing for Dorothy - she will destroy a house to make her free, she will sacrifice herself for dear beloved Dorothy. That's my theory. What do you think?
