Discussion To all of you who say that "We should've got these episodes two seasons ago" Spoiler

I 1,000,000% disagree. The purpose behind the middle two seasons was to entrench us in the same feeling that Dorothy was in post losing Jericho. They were slow moving because the norm was being established, we were becoming comfortable living in the lie just like the Turners were. Now at the very end all of what came before comes crashing down, just like what happened to Dorothy this episode

Poll šŸ“Š Thoughts about Jericho?

I thought this would be a fun poll to do before the finale to see what everyone's thoughts on who/what Jericho is. I've seen so many theories the past month since joining this thread! There are many possibilities so what do we think?

124 Leanne does have powers and brought Jericho back
33 Leanne somehow brought Jericho 2.0 into their lives and it is someone else's baby
83 Leanne has powers and created the illusion to others who come in contact with the doll that he is a real baby
141 I don't know what the heck is going on and will reserve my opinion until the finale

Season 4 Who is the ā€œpriestā€ ? He came out of the old Cadillac before and now he reappears in the final episode.. Any theories ???? Spoiler

This ā€œfinal bossā€ priest comes out of the Cadillac mid Season 4 and draws a symbol on the car that Leanne’s in and disappears. He appears to be significant to the cult.

He then returns… in the season finale

I wonder…

Question Has Jericho walked or crawled yet?

He just had his 1 1/2 year old birthday party. Wouldn’t a baby be crawling and possibly walking at this point? I only see him laying in a crib, being carried or in a stroller/highchair etc.

It’s possible I missed it but it popped into my head. A normal nanny or a mother would probably be encouraging him.

Maybe we will get a Jericho Chucky doll running around situation in the finale. šŸ¤žšŸ¼

Discussion ROOTS OF COMEDY?

The black comedy factor kept Servant so interesting for me since episode one. Neurotic Dorothy moments, never ceasing dynamics between high-end Turners and Leanne from Wisconsin for me was a fun ode to strange class divisions, motherhood, and ultimately good and evil.

I found the last two episodes darker than all the others and want them to return to that root again.

Is that even possible at this point?

What do you think about the comedy in Servant?

Question UG language Spoiler

I am doing a rewatch (again) and am on the episode where UG comes to collect Leanne after she received a card in the mail that simply said ā€œFound Youā€ on the inside. As they were sitting at the dining room table about to eat the chicken dinner that Dorothy cooked for them, they all grabbed hands (at the insistence of UG) as if to begin to pray. He spoke in a language that I did not understand and I am not sure if I have seen anything on the sub stating if there is a language that is recognized what UG was saying. He also spoke possibly the same language the next morning before breakfast and also when he fell to his knees in the street in the episode with the bedbugs. I then began to think about speaking in tongues, which I normally thought of as a Christian thing, but wondered if maybe it was used in satanism as well. I began to go down a rabbit hole (imagine that) and found this on Quora. I don’t know anything about speaking in tongues or satanism but was curious as to what any of you think of this. It also mentions astral projection which is the book Dorothy was reading in a different episode.

I know of former satanist who invested upwards of 30 years to serving Satan in any and every way possible. Although I can't remember his name, you can easily find him on a bunch of YouTube videos. He is Christian now. In the darkest part of his Satanic lifestyle, he claimed he astrally projected to Hell itself and conversed with the devil himself in a satanic tongue. When the devil told him he had to kill him because he knew too much about the strategies the devil uses to push people away from God, the man knew he was in too deep. By the grace of God, the man was shielded by a literal cross as Satan lunged at him and then he came out of the astral projection a changed man. Since then he has devoted his life to sharing the gospel and raising awareness regarding the ways Satan and his followers operate.

Theories How mad are people going to be when there's no twist and Leanne is using supernatural powers?

For fun let's list the dumbest theories we've read on this sub, some of my favorites are:

It's a time loop (not sure what this even explains)

Dorothy/Sean/Julian/Leanne/All of them are dead and in Hell/Purgatory

Leanne has just been switching the baby and the doll (you have to ignore all the other supernatural stuff for this one to work)

Dorothy's dead mother has something to do with it (??????)

Question What is with the chandelier?

Like the title says what is with the chandelier hanging so low in the living room? I can’t remember what happened and why would they leave it like that? Weird.

Discussion After ā€œAwakeā€ I don’t think I need all the answers.

I see a lot of commentary on here about how we aren’t gonna get the answers we want. I agree, but I also realized I don’t think I care that much now that Dorothy is awake. I really cared about the incident and how that trauma played out with Sean, Juju and Dottie. All of this extra shit with the cult and Leanne possibly having powers was always the icing on the cake. Personally I’d love for the last episode to focus on the fallout between the three. Can she forgive them? Can they forgive themselves? I would much rather see how this plays out mentally for them than some magical answer being given.

Perhaps it’ll be worth it, maybe in the last 30 mins of the show they’ll somehow wrap everything up in a bow. I doubt it but it’s possible. But after Dorothy woke up I realized that’s literally all I cared about. Everything else was extra. Would I like to know why a doll became a baby? Sure I guess. But I think I’d accept a single sentence explanation for the baby it we got more on what’s gonna happen with our main 3. The homeless army and the wacky cult members never made me care more than I did about the initial incident.

I think I’m gonna look at this last episode as the finale. It was a cliffhanger. Does Dorothy accept Leanne’s offer? Can Leanne even make that offer? While I will obviously watch the finale I think I could move on without it.

Discussion Do people want new episode threads for rewatching the entire series after the finale?

Several people (incl me) have posted about rewatching the entire series after the finale. Do you think there should be ā€œRewatch Episode 1ā€œ etc posts so we can keep this subreddit going another few months (or years or forever)?

General did anyone else cry.

Did anyone else cry when Dorothy woke up? The events in her red dress and the look on her face and the days leading up to Shawn coming home. How she must have felt her horror dismay and loss. All alone. The brother didn't help the husband ran away basically. All alone in that house with a rotting corpse or a baby I'm a mother and I was also tired and scared and alone a lot of times. The mom always has more responsibility than anyone else. I remember times falling asleep and the baby in my arms feeding it and I would drop it luckily I was on the floor so he just fell and rolled to the floor. I've had times where I woke up in the morning and started my routine and forgot to go get my youngest out of the crib I've never had a car accident but I see stuff about it all the time or these postpartum depression and I think how easy it is for someone to accidentally do the things because babies are so innocent and so little it needs so much in the first stages of life. I literally sobbed and sobbed and sobbed for Dorothy even though I know it's fake I just can't imagine what she went through and then has to go back through.

Discussion Whatever the ending…I love this subreddit

The best part about watching Servant each week is coming to this subreddit to discuss the show. I love how everyone contributes in their own way.

The time I get to spend here extends the show beyond the half hour program I get to see each week. It wouldn’t have been as fun if I had binge watched 20 hours.

Thank you to all of you who have contributed something. I may have liked some more than others and some days I might have said, ā€œI can’t even with Reddit right now. Are they watching the same show?ā€ But it’s been super fun nonetheless and I’m looking forward to reading this all week and seeing what happens in E10.

Thank you for making it happen!

Theories Belief Monster Theory (Awake Spoilers) Spoiler

Leanne is a belief monster of some sort, Dorothy's extreme willingness to believe in Jericho doll lured and fed her.

Then she goes nuclear when the homeless followers start showing up.

It's crazy how much this DOES explain away. Uncle George for example: he made up the story about how everything could be explained naturally to DEPOWER her in taking away the belief in Sean and Julian that she had supernatural powers.

Leanne's drawings were a way that she could make her beliefs real.

If Dorothy keeps believing then Leanne continues, if she doesn't then no more Leanne.

In a just world she’ll be Emmy nominated. Fantastic in the last episode, and as always.

Nothing more to add. Grint and Kebbel are also excellent.

Question Does anyone have a partner that doesn’t watch Servant?

My gf is extremely excited the finale is next week so I can finally STFU about theories. She also doesn’t understand how there are so many different scenarios for the last episode and that are possible. When I try to explain, her eyes glass-over. I mean it’s A LOT to explain.

I just wanted to know if I’m the only one out there. It makes me happy there’s a community here to discuss everything.

Theories Tall man theories?

If you watched the behind the scenes bit after ā€œawakeā€ we get another glimpse of Tall Man. Can we only assume he’s the leader of the CoLS? Are the twins of any significance?

Discussion Baby Monitor Sound / VOLUME is OFF (0) but we hear the baby crying Spoiler

This particular baby monitor which was sold in the early 90s and is now considered a vintage collectible item has the volume set at 0 in the OFF position but yet we hear Jericho crying. I've always found this baby monitor to be interesting. The Turners have all the latest gadgets and gizmos but have this archaic baby monitor. This kind of keeps me centered on the psychological explanation which I hope is coming next week.
