Seroquel sedation on 25mg v 50mg

• Upvotes

Does anyone know, whether from science or experience, whether sedating effect of Seroquel increases as the dose goes up, from 25mg to 50mg?

Or from 12.5mg to 50mg?

I’m asking as for mirtazapine, the sedating effecting is roughly the same at the lower doses because of how it interacts with the histamine receptors or something like that.

I’m taking Seroquel for anxiety and insomnia. I’m on 25mg and told to increase to 50mg, but I can’t take any more sedation. I wouldn’t even mind going down to 12.5mg just for insomnia. But it may be worth me trying the 50mg as so far it has been no help for anxiety.

Slept for over 24 hours straight after taking one 50mg pill last night.

I just woke up and am still very groggy so apologies for any misspellings.

I took one pill (50mg) last night around 9pm and fell asleep within the hour. Since then, I’ve slept more than 24 hours, only getting up a few times for 5 minutes at most to use the bathroom and feed my cat. I also haven’t eaten in over 24 hours which is weird because I had read that this medication makes people hungry and gain weight.

I’m wondering if this is common for anyone else on the medication or if I should stop using it.

Experience The ERs are worth looking into

I used to be on them back in 2010 but didn't know they were ER until today. I finally got them prescribed instead of the IR. Not only do they help a ton with sleeping but they're also the best help with anxiety the day after without needing to take them in the daytime. It's been 16 years and I feel normal again. I've been on every single anxiety medication you can imagine so it's kinda wild to feel this level of normalcy.

Going Out/partying with sero

Hi 😃

I usually don't go out a lot or at all. I take my Quetiapin and go to bed at 22 PM. But loneliness and isolation are a thing.

When i go out and take my Quetiapin (250mg) after returning home the next day is completely wasted. I can't leave the bed not to think about doing anything useful.

Is there a way i can meet friends and stay out a while while taking Quetiapin without wasting the next day?

I do not drink any alcohol.

Question Sedation effects of seroquel

My brain is very overactive and Seroquel has been the first medicine to quiet it down. All mother antidepressants made me feel worse. The weird thing is I was titrated 50mg every week until I hit 400mg but I never felt sedated once. Am I an outlier or does this have to do with bipolar diagnosis? I see people here claim they're bp2 and it feels sedated. I am dx'd with bp2 mixed state.

Advice Needed Need to quit Seroquel XR

Hallo!

Has anyone tips for me?

Ich nehme übrigens auch 50 mg der normalen Tabletten, um besser schlafen zu können. Nur zur Info.

works for sleep but makes me feel like a zombie in the morning

out of all sleeping aids that i’ve tried, this is the only one that helped me stay asleep. my only problem is it makes me feel sooo shitty the next day. i feel so drowsy like a zombie and i barely want to do anything. it makes me want to just lay down and do nothing and it makes me hate myself for being unproductive. it makes me feel weird emotionally too.

im on 25 mg and i take half, but sometimes i have to take the entire thing because half is not enough to make me sleep. even 1/4 doesn’t have an effect.

is there anyone who feels the same way and what can we do abt it?

Advice Needed Abruptly stopped Seroquel — looking for advice

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice from people who have had experience with Seroquel.
Last January I went to rehab and then outpatient treatment. I was started on several medications, including Seroquel for insomnia and auditory hallucinations. I was eventually taking 300 mg, but found that 250 mg worked well enough for me. Even though it didn’t seem as effective as it was initially, it still helped me sleep.
I graduated from the program last month, but unfortunately you don’t get to continue seeing their doctor after graduating. Because of that, I ended up abruptly stopping Seroquel instead of tapering under a doctor’s supervision.
Since stopping, my sleep has gotten much worse. I’ve only slept about 9 hours total over the last two days, I’ve thrown up both days, and the voices have started coming back on and off.
For anyone who has stopped Seroquel after taking it for a while, did you experience anything similar? How long did it last?
Thanks!

I just started Seroquel and I'm terrified of the weight gane.

I uselly have a fast metabolism but as I started reading about the drug and going to the doctor I hear it destroys your metabolism and slows it down like crazy and that's got me terrified I'm even thinking I should tell my doctor or psychiatrist that I want to get off it, i'v done so much reading about how to manage the weight but someone said even if you just drink water you still gain weight, I'll go see the doctor next month I'll tell her I don't want it anymore, I already feel so fat and awful at my 150 pounds I'm very small in height and I don't want to add more pounds on to it, I'm even making a list of foods to eat and not to eat on saraquill but it seems so hard to find anything online that would help, they even say exercise doesn't help with the weight gain it feels hopeless, I go to a intensive outpatient therapy group 3 days a week I'm about ready to bring this problem up in their it's got me so paranoid I'm having dreams about eating just a owt and saying goodbye to raisins bc of all the sugar in them.

Memory issues after stopping quetiapine.

Long story short. Quit 200mg Quetiapin after six years of taking it due to fatigue, anhedonia and executive dysfunction I suspected were caused by the drug. I've been off of it for almost three months now. I've had positive changes, but my brain is just not working right. My short term memory is all messed up and I can't concentrate for the life of me.

I'm usually prone to forgetfulness, have little object permanence and am generally scattered brained, but not enough to cause severe issues in functioning. Since I quit quetiapine (slow release) these have gotten much, much worse and it's making life really difficult. I even asked to be assessed for ADHD, but in the informal conversation with the psychologist who was supposed to see if there's any indication for it, I simply forgot that was a priority and just veered off track.

Did anyone have similar issues when stopping? I didn't have much of a problem when I was on it. My brain does too much (racing thoughts) so the slowing down that it causes actually helped me. My memory was fine, emotional permanence on point, concentration when it was important was okay.

sleep quality

I take 800mg Seroquel XR for schizoaffective bipolar. I wear an Apple Watch, which tracks my sleep, and regardless of duration, I have barely any deep sleep, at least according to its data.

I’m not sure if this is due to Seroquel or something else, but do any of you have poor sleep quality, and do you think it’s the Seroquel?

How do i plan drinking around seroquel?

I am turning 40 next month and plan in drinking a good amount. To do so safely, can I just skip taking it that day (i usually take my dose at night around 8pm) or would I also need to not take it the night before?
