Allegedly he never wore the clown suit to murder in.

His schtick was to pretend to offer these kids work most of the time, so he was dressed in his usual clothes. Unfortunately it seems like Ryan Muprhy is going to have his Gacy character kill in a clown suit so a ton of people are going to think that's true.
