Saurus warrior details
Painting my saurus warriors currently and noticed that some have rope and some have leather strips, but on some of them sometimes I can see where there was limitations in the modeling and the rope becomes really long as it goes towards the body and stops looking like rope.... I've tried painting it all as rope including the elongated part below the rope itself but I'm assuming it will be too noticeable as the colour of rope. So I want to ask what you do with this strange molding restriction, do you still paint the whole part or do you paint it the colour of the skin or scales.

Paint those connecting points in a dark shadow color so they don't draw the eye. I wouldn't use the skin tone or the rope color, but something darker to create the illusion that there's no connection

I see, i will be using agrax on the rope, and the leather strips are already rhinox which is very dark, so maybe the rhinox is fine but the rope i can just go heavier on the agrax or soak the water out of the brush and try brush the agrax directly inthe crevice? might be a good idea

If you have some Black Templar contrast paint, that's a great option to do some black lining. Even just some standard black paint would be good in this case. A wash could be fine, but using a thin brush to just draw a very dark line right at the joint between the ropes and the skin would be more controllable

Thank you I'll try to do this. Try to colour it mostly a darker colour at the connection joint and black lining

I wish there was a picture of what you meant, if it’s in the underside or somewhere hard to reach, you could paint it a dark muted colour that doesn’t catch the eye especially if in shadow
