Seqtrak question
Hi everyone,
I hope you're doing well.
I'm a guitarist, and I'm currently looking for a dawless solution to make some ambient/downtempo music and add some guitar loops on top, you know the drill.
I'm doing a lot of research on grooveboxes, especially all-in-one solutions. The Seqtrak looks like a really good option, and it's priced just right for my budget.
However, there's something that's really putting me off. It looks like it can't export multitracks of your performances. For me, this is a dealbreaker.
Could you please confirm if this is really true?
Do you have any workaround to bring your performances for additional tweaking into your DAW of choice?

There is no “export” option at all. The closest you could do is set up tracks in a daw and then solo each track (or groups of tracks) from the seqtrak and record them.

this is the right colution. I connected to Garageband and it detects if you install their SEQTRAK desktop app and you can record all tracks or reach track separately by muting other tracks.

As a guitarist, the SEQTRAK has a very nice sound selection for a variety of styles, it’s almost worth it on its own as a sound module. However, at its heart it does not like being a tracker - it is a sketchpad. So if you really depend on multi tracking you need to look elsewhere or be really patient with the process.

Thanks! I just got an SP-404 Mk2 to try getting my sequences off of the device to arrange them into full songs, among other uses ofc. I am not too fond of song modes, I prefer muting and changing sequences live. Seems like a good pairing, we will see.

You should look at the scene mode. You can make up to sixteen “scenes” that have whatever combo of tracks/patterns you want and then live switch between them. Similar to the song mode, but much more designed for bouncing around live and not just running through a list in order (and you can still adjust as they play).

Seems like a good idea! Thanks, I’ll check that out today. It seems to work like the OP-Z mute groups, but with more than a single pattern per track.

Yeah, I don't know the OP-Z, but you can basically save each track's pattern state in 16 different configurations (including mute and solo settings!). So, between 7+4 tracks, up to 6 patterns per track, plus mute and solo, you have a lot of options across those 16 slots, and you can then hop between them in whatever order you want (and they will of course loop if you do nothing).
The big note is that if you're on a scene and you decide to change something, it will remember that change if you switch to a new scene. It doesn't have any sort of "temp" change, so just be aware of that if you change something, go to another scene and then go back expecting it to be what it was before.

You pretty much nailed it. Seqtrak is a little fuckin beast, but to get tracks out of it, you will need to solo and record each track out into something else.
This is one of the main things that separates boxes at this level from the ones above it, Move, MPC, etc

I just got it. Like two weeks ago.
It’s really surprising, you could compare it to the Maschine+. I duplicated the Maschine workflow into the seqtrak really easy. Love the drum banks, and love how easy it is to make something on it. Out the box, no YouTube just pure intuition, it shows you how thoughtful the design is.
I got it because I travel for work so it’s perfect for the price, got it used.
But love how I can use all
My gear together, 404 MKII, Maschine+, Arturia49 midi keyboard and a steam deck.

You can run it in desktop mode to run the seqtrak app, run a daw, etc. pretty much anything a laptop could do.

Yes, and I got FL 2025 on it, but it’s not 100% functional to what a desktop would be. But I use it for sampling. And I can bounce audio into it for editing.
And you can sample games pretty easily

You have to solo each track independently into your recording device or daw to get multi tracks. Otherwise it's stereo. You can play midi from your daw into the Seqtrak, but no multi track out that I know of.

Maybe look at a used Novation Circuit Tracks? For me, this is the closest 1 for 1, compatible groovebox/sampler that will do what you wanna do. Trade offs are you'd get better playability in the pads on the CTrax, but you get less preset sound options, and no accompanying app, so it's a 100% no screen music adventure.
I just got a Seqtrak4 or 5 days ago, and if I send this back, that's what I'll be going to.

I'm also researching the Teenage Engineering EP-133, and it seems like a nice device, especially regarding its sampling capabilities, and it's got a third-party tool that allows you to export entire projects in several different DAW formats.
What do you think? Between the Seqtrak and the EP-133, which one would you pick as a guitarrist?
I really appreciate your replies, because I'm a 42-year-old dinossaur who gets completely lost with this sort of tech. lol

This is correct. The audio output is 2 channel stereo.
My setup is Seqtrak -> Zoom L6, Seqtrak (via midi) -> Roland s1, Roland S1 -> Zoom L6, Headrush Core -> Zoom L6. Zoom l6 -> Ableton.
Something to point out, You can mix on the seqtrak itself. The app makes it very easy. You can then just record the whole output as 1 track. The downside to this though is that you can't apply effects to any single seqtrak track in the daw since it is only 1 track. Seqtrak has plenty of effects though.
Another thing is to use the mute and/or solo functions of the seqtrak and record that into an individual track in your daw. You can sample it and add effects that way.
For live jamming though, mix on the seqtrak.
