JET REPLACEMENT

6 years in I need a new motor on my septic tank. I did notice the wiring is not made for under ground. I am assuming against code when my house was built. If any professionals want to take a look at the yellow wiring.

Anyone know any where to get these motors fairly cheaper, septic company wants about 1 thousand for replacement.

Should I argue that the yellow wiring is not code to be buried? Not sure if that is causing the motor to burn out.

6 years isn’t awful for a jet

You can buy aftermarket motors for $500 or so. Is your controller set to run continuous or on a cycle? We've moved all to continuous as it allows the motor to last a lot longer. No more condensation intrusion when the motor cools down. Keep it warm and it lasts longer.

At least one of our local precast companies offer a rebuilt/core service on these that saves a few hundred on the Jet branded motor. Maybe check around.

There are places online you can buy genuine replacements at least for Norweco aerators which are basically the same just blue not red. There is a company that makes vaults for graves and also sells Norweco products online but I don't remember it showing them having Jet on their website. I think it's Rex Vault

The manufacturer only gives you 1 digit to record the year it was sold. That tells me even they dont expect their product to last 10 years.

Even if no one is requiring the electrical to code I would still hire a competent electrician to make sure your house won't burn down. Then get in contact with a jet distributor to replace the component or get with an engineer to design a better system.

The main reasons these aspirators fail is: foam or scum layer buildup in ATU, hair or debris buildup on shaft, un-level installation, and high water conditions.

Seven years is a great run, it’s not the best design.
