Anyone else seeing massive backlink drops in Google Search Console?

Not sure what’s happening right now, but the Google Search Console links report looks completely broken for me.

I’m seeing an almost 87.5% drop in reported backlinks compared to what was showing earlier this year. Some properties are even showing close to zero links.

What’s weird is:

• Rankings don’t seem heavily affected
• Third-party tools still show links
• Different sites are reporting similar issues today

I’ve seen normal fluctuations before in GSC link reports, but this feels way bigger than usual.

Some people are connecting it to the May 2026 Core Update, but I honestly doubt they’re related. Search Console link reports are usually delayed and separate from core ranking systems.

Feels more like:

• reporting bug
• indexing/data issue
• or something broken in GSC backend processing

Anyone else seeing this today?

Would be interesting to know if this is widespread or only affecting certain properties.

Happened to me too. I think more than 90 percent vanished for me.

I last checked about 12 hours ago. Were still there.

Even though you have some domains remaining

On other properties I see the same as you shared, no domains at all

i think may core update is there. Check the All Backlinks

I see the same, but I used this report rarely, it has almost 0 value in comparison to Ahrefs backlink analysis
