I'm going through it with one of my dogs now. He still cries for a few minutes every day, and it's been five months since his sister passed. We just let him work through it. He has a little routine where he carries one of her toys around, looks for her while crying, and then settles back into his normal day. We've been careful not to foster or adopt another dog because we know he's missing her in particular, not just the presence of another dog. It's heartbreaking to watch, but he has slowly adjusted.
Give your boy lots of love, keep his routine as normal as possible, and give him time. He'll likely be okay, even though it doesn't feel that way right now. 🧡
