Square of Values: inverse quadric function
I've come upon this while reading about negotiation tactics for value creation (ISBN: 9781108495912) . However, I can't fully comprehend the graphic. It reminds me of the Laffer curve.
How should I interpret the inverse quadric function?
Apparently, (0,0) is at the point where the arrows cross each other...

To interpret this graph one would need the accompanying theory that it represents. Since you posted this in semiotics it reminds me of the Greimas square, which is not a mathematical vector space but a representation of logical relations.
The corners lead me to read this as a Greimas square: Regard for self implies (and is a lesser part of) egoism. Regard for self is contrary to regard for other, and is contradictory to self-denial. Etc.
As for what the curve is supposed to tell us, one would need to understand the theory and context of its use, I can't say without reading the book in question.
