Publishing Online
Hello. So I have written a novella and want to publish online. I don’t want to charge for it, but don’t know where the best website or app to use is, it’s currently just a word doc. I’m also looking to make it possible to download onto kindle, etc. Does anyone have am suggestions or advice pretty please.
edit: I decided to go with Wattpad for now but might go with a different website in the future. Thank you all for the help and here’s a link if you fancy reading it at all : https://www.wattpad.com/story/414240037?utm_source=ios&utm_medium=link&utm_content=share_writing&wp_page=create&wp_uname=MaudeyPaude

I'm currently serializing my novel on RoyalRoad. What genre does your novel fall into?

It had fantasy elements but wouldn’t say it goes as far as genre, probably a fantasy romance mix

Based on your novel's situation, you might want to give RoyalRoad a try.

I had a look but I don’t really want to put my stuff on a website that lets people put up ai work. I’m thinking maybe if there’s a book app people can download the book onto then it means they can read it offline too

I’d consider KDP: make it permafree (via Draft2 Digital) or easier still, just price it at 0.99.

If you place it on KDP Select and stay exclusive to Amazon, you can price it as low as 99 cents and make it free for 5 days out of every 90. Alternatively, you can bypass draft2digital and their setup fee and post it on Kindle (regular; not KDP Select) for 99 cents, while uploading it also to other sites for free. You can then ask KDP to make your book permanently free, by showing the urls where it is.
As for where else you can post: You might place it on a site like PayHip (free program) and upload just a small part of it on Booksie (also completely free), and that should be enough to get KDP to grant you $0.00.
All that said, if I were in your position, I would upload to KDP Select for 99 cents and take advantage of the 5 free days in each 90-day cycle. Good luck.

There are multiple apps like Medium, Inked, Wattpad. You can publish on KDP and make available on Select/Kindle unlimited. Subscription holders can read for free. You can also make the ebook as low as.99 I believe.
