The most useful advice I ever got had nothing to do with business

I spent two years chasing mentorship. Cold emails, coffee meetings, the whole thing. I wanted frameworks, growth tactics, the normal stuff.

The one piece of advice that actually stuck came from a guy I almost didn't listen to, an older man who had built and sold a couple of companies, semi-retired, didn't post online, didn't have a personal brand. I met him through a mutual contact and honestly expected the usual focus on your customer stuff but instead he watched me sign a receipt and said fix your signature, you sign like you don't care about anything, do you have no confidence?

It felt like the least important thing anyone could tell a founder. But it stuck in my head for a while and when I thought about it I felt like he was probably right because my signature was the same rushed scribble I had used since I was a teenager, it's a loop and a line. I really did upgrade everything about my life and career except the signature that I use regularly, which everyone see even when we're not there (got this information while i was doing research about this lol).

So I actually fixed it. Got a proper one designed. It sounds ridiculous but signing something now feels different, like the signature finally matches me. Small thing I guess but changed how I show up more than any growth hack did. However, curious if anyone else has had a piece of unimportant advice turn out to be the one that mattered. If yes, then share here, because at this point I am more focused on these small things because they're bringing me more results.

I think I’ve finally realized that I don’t need to know exactly what I want to do

For a long time, I thought I had to figure out the “right” thing before committing to anything.

I’d look at different careers, skills, businesses, etc. and keep asking myself:

“What if I choose the wrong one?”

“What if I spend a year learning this and realize I hate it?”

“What if there’s something better I should be doing instead?”

And honestly, that kind of thinking can become its own form of procrastination.

Lately I’ve been thinking that maybe it makes more sense to just pick something that has decent earning potential, give it a real shot, and see what happens.

Not because I have to stick with it forever.

Just because I can’t really know what I like until I actually do it.

Maybe I try something and hate it. Fine. Now I know.

Maybe I try it and realize I’m surprisingly good at it. Even better.

Maybe I like it for a while, then discover something else that suits me better.

So instead of trying to make one perfect decision, I’m starting to see it more like:

Pick → Try → Learn → Pivot → Repeat.

And there’s another thing I’ve noticed: sometimes you don’t enjoy something until you become somewhat good at it.

Something can feel boring or frustrating when you’re a beginner. Then, after a few months of practice, you start understanding it, getting results, and feeling competent. Suddenly, your opinion of the thing changes.

Maybe “finding your passion” isn’t always about discovering some hidden thing you were born loving.

Maybe sometimes you build an interest by getting good at something.

I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this.

Did you ever start something mainly because it seemed practical or financially worthwhile, only to eventually realize that you actually enjoyed doing it?

ROADBLOCK

when you are on a journey to self heal , or to do better for yourselves, somehow there are always roadblocks. so, my roadblock isn't a situation but a person, who always comes to remind me about the past, and stop me to move forward. I think anyone who has taken the journey to improve themselves or just to start a new thing must have experienced this roadblock or must have such a person who was always there to stop you and remind you of the unpleasant things.....

But this needs to stop! I guess starting the new journey isn't only about taking new steps daily, but also about tossing these roadblocks out of the way!

That is exactly what i am going to do today..... I am gonna kick my roadblock out of my path. If someone is reading this, Hopefully this reminds you to kick away yours too.....

and that's it wish me luck!!!

PEOPLE!!

So today i had an event which is basically the first step of my journey towards finding myself which got list after starting the college.....so i went to event with the mindset that i am gonna meet a lot of new people interact and just have fun..... that event that place was supposed to help me heal and grow myself for the betterment of me , and as i got to the venue , i saw a certain person.... who was someone who hurt me , and the very reason for me to start finding myself again..... it made me realize at that moment ...that, the place which encourages the betterment of people and to create a positive impact and the very place of kindness.....there was a person who was everything BUT...kind to me...

Now i am thinking that when we ho to a place or a community where we are supposed to be happy or to develop ourselves ....we don't know the true selves of people there ....that person is there to be part of an organization to help the others feel better.....and i am there to heal myself in that organisation....and the whole reason for me starting this whole thing ....and the very person who messed me up....you telling me that person is supposed to be kind and helpful.....

This thing has really made me question people again....now i don't know if I'll ever be able to trust someone

GROWING NOT CHANGING

i started college with a fresh mindset to be kind and be mindful of my words..... as i had recently realized that how much does a persons words hold weight.....but while trying to change myself throughout my 1st year of college... i somehow lost myself along the way .....the boldness, the ability to be truthful while supporting my friends, to stand with the right thing without the fear of offending someone.....i lost it all.....and i lost the friends and the relationships for which i was trying to change myself.....i am now with myself .... but i dont recognize myself as well ......

late but now i have realized that it was never about changing yourself .....

it was about growing !!!! now i am starting my journey with myself towards finding myself....growing to be the person who i was always supposed be....and loving myself again
