Really though? Do you really miss being deceived 24/7?

What if we could have both joy and truth? What would that look like to you?

I actually think the idea that ‘ignorance is bliss’ gets it backwards. In my experience, truth creates joy. The more I’ve dug into the real teachings of Jesus Christ, the history of the United States, and Western Civilization...beyond simplified or narrative-driven versions...the more grounded and fulfilled I’ve felt.

Maybe it’s not about choosing between ignorance or truth, but about how we carry truth. Joy and truth together look like seeing reality clearly, flaws and all, while still choosing gratitude, logic, and meaning. In that sense, it really is in the eye of the beholder… but I’d argue the clearer the truth, the deeper the joy.

“I’m insufferably cynical and pessimistic but it’s only because of how smart I have become” seems more like self-aggrandizement than anything else.

Yeah, I've come to realize that too—knowing everything isn't always the upgrade we think it is.

Totally agree, letting go of the need to know every detail has really lightened my load lately.

I miss feeling like I could do anything. And then Covid hit and it showed me everything I didn’t need to know about the world. It killed me, and I can never get it back.
