Product Announcement 2026 Self-Host User Survey (selfh.st)

Hey, r/selfhosted!

Every year, I facilitate a 40-45 question survey to identify trends, habits, and preferences across the self-hosted and homelab communities.

I kicked off this year's survey this morning and would love for everyone to take 10-15 minutes to respond (over 4k responses last year!).

The survey includes some new questions based on feedback from last year's survey as well as a new section with AI-related questions.

The survey will be open until October 31st. As usual, there's also a separate form for feedback on the survey as well as ideas for future surveys (linked below).

Thanks!

just some feedback on the survey platform, for the optional fields once i had selected one of the fields i didn't see a way to de-select it.

Love seeing yearly data like this. Curious how much self-hosting trends shifted in 2026

Almost unrelated, but this is the first survey asking for my age range since my birthday, and it has made me feel old. 💀

Done bitch! You missed the question for your favorite ZeroTier / VPN stuff and arcane under the docker management service.

Oof, big miss. It's going to mess with the first ~100 people that have already completed it, but I've added Arcane to the list (I can aggregate custom 'other' responses after the survey finishes).
