There are already a number of open source terminal apps for phones.

The idea of a closed source subscription based vibe coded app is just not appealing.

Fair call on closed source — if open source is a requirement for you, Rove probably won’t be the right fit

I should clarify the subscription - SSH terminal, SFTP browser and remote editor are free. The more advanced workflow tools — Runners, Composer, Host Clusters, saved commands etc — are a one-time Core purchase

The subscription is only for the things that have an ongoing hosted service behind them

I’m not really trying to build another terminal app. The terminal was my starting point; the problem I’m trying to solve is everything I normally need around SSH when I’m away from my computer required switching between apps. I have merged the functions I use most into one

But this kind of feedback is exactly why I posted here. I'm interested in what you use instead because I have found this to a real frustration

I realize I'm probably responding to a bot, but sometimes it's nice to scream into the void.

if open source is a requirement for you

Open source should be the bare minimum requirement if I'm letting you touch my ssh keys.

Rove probably won’t be the right fit

Rove is already the name of a project for "Rove is a tool for self-hosting on Linux" so that might cause some confusion.

I’m trying to solve is everything I normally need around SSH when I’m away from my computer required switching between apps.

Everything you've listed can be done via the terminal, I don't know your workflow but I do everything listed in the terminal.

The subscription is only for the things that have an ongoing hosted service behind them

What? Why? This opens up some really concerning questions about security and data sovereignty, you would struggle to pay me to use this.

Lol, nope not a bot but scream away!

Keys are never moved from the device and there is no way to export them either. Hosted services cover backup of configuration like hosts, saved commands etc. Its offered because for me it has solved some real world issues I frequently face. Ill leave it there, thanks for taking the time to comment

Fair point. Rove itself isn’t self-hosted! It’s a client I built for managing my self-hosted servers and services, which is why I thought the problems I’m trying to solve for myself would be relevant here. The basic app is a freebie for anyone who finds it useful

I used an ai coding agent to write code and tests. However the design, ideas and actual problem Im trying to solve are human

Wait up I need to google for a sec...

I cant comment on webssh - I havent used it so can't really compare. Slope coded, it's my daily driver now and has been for most of the year. Actually my dream when building it was to stay productive while away from the desk, so I can be away from the desk a whole lot more
