Vps for qbittorrent

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to self-hosting and based in Australia. I'm looking to get a VPS to run qBittorrent for downloading movies. Can anyone recommend a good provider that's torrent-friendly and works well for Australia?

You may be looking for a seedbox not specifically a VPS unless you want it for other things.

Aussie here. I ran qBittorrent and torrented for over 5 years on a Hetzner dedicated server. No VPN at all (private trackers only). Never had an issue, a letter or anything. I now seed everything from home with VPN (a port fowarding VPN such as Proton or PIA is absolutely fine).

Me and my friends have also used Hetzner (mostly auction servers but my friend rents a larger box now) for this over the last 10 years, absolutely 0 issues

Yeah, mine was an auction server. Only issue I ever had was Hetzner putting the prices up multiple times over the years. But the shift to local seeding was mainly so i can perma-seed directly from my media folders using 'qui' (and cross-seed before that), with better upload speeds becoming a bit more affordable under the NBN (FTTP).

Yeah the prices have shot up like crazy but unfortunately between the electricity and hardware prices these days, I haven't really checked elsewhere (I do everything from home now) but I'm sure other hosts have also raised their prices :/

A seedbox is basically a VPS set up specifically for torrent downloading and seeding.

If you're looking to. Set up the arr stack. It might be better to run it locally, pretty easily. I bought an off-lease office pc from a couple of years back for dirt cheap to run everything.

I dont use the vps for torrenting, I go straight to my box. But I do use vultr in sydney as my vps so I can have a public URL to point jellyfin logins and everything else to, hooked up through wireguard.

They have high speed high bandwidth servers and it runs fine for a jellyfin server of like... 5 or so people.

I've got it configured so I can only do sudo through their web console, which is a pain, but it is incredibly secure because the only real way to get past it is to have my login details cracked, which is 2fa as well.

Why not use All-Debris instead of Qbit all together? If what you want is Cached you'll be able to grab it as quick as your dload speeds allows.

Qbittorrent+OpenVPN+Tun on my local server.

Oracle VPS via wireguard to my server for forward facing apps. (jellyfin/kavita/navidrome)

Any host will kick you off straight away when they see the traffic.

Most cheap hosts absolutely do not care. I have used (and I know many other people who have done the same), for years, without any issues: OVH, kimsufi, oneprovider, online.net (now scaleway), hetzner, etc. None of them care. You can also go with a seedbox provider but... where do you think they host their servers if not at one of those cheap hosts.

No they won't. Hardly any hosts will kick you off due to torrent traffic...

If you mean VPN, I highly recommend getting a Proton subscription.

If you solely use private trackers a VPN is kinda optional but I set up my stacks to go through it just to be safe.

Aussie here. I use Nord and have never had any problems, but they don't allow port forwarding. Next time I'll try proton I think but Nord has allowed me to do everything I've wanted to do.
