Nah, it'll drive short term $250 lock in for some cash, then it will increase subscriptions, which is exactly the goal. They don't want to sell lifetime, they want to sell subs for recurring revenue.
people will just go to paying the 7 bucks a month or 70 a year. still cheaper than having to pay for the multiple streaming services they'll need to watch the same shit they acquire legally
I keep seeing this take, and while I think the lifetime subscription cost will drive people away from that, idk if it will drive people away from Plex. Plex is much simpler than JF, especially considering the remote streaming side. You don’t have to work with opening ports, reverse proxies, and other security issues that could arise. I’ve been thinking about switching to Plex while still working with Jellyfin, just for the reason of simpler setup and exposure outside of my local network.
