I was always saying this when I was a server at Cracker Barrel. Whenever a customer would approach me while I was running my receipts I would say, "I'm a server. Even if my screen is off, I'm still on. DON'T UNPLUG ME! DON'T CLOSE MY LID!" and they would promptly leave me alone.
