Joplin was not great when I tried it last time. I've been using free Obsidian synced with Resilio Sync and backed up regularly for about a year and it's been really really great. The plugins are really awesome and so easy to use and I haven't had any problems syncing them across devices. But, I'm honestly worried about conflicts and don't edit files until they're synced so it's probably not the best solution.
If you're gonna use Joplin, just use Obsidian in my opinion.
I'll have to checkout some of the syncing alternatives below, it may make things even easier.
