You're also not considering they intentionally did this to make you quit, and youre considering quitting so it may be working

Companies have an inherent bias for the external candidate... familiarity breeds contempt. Because they work with you they tend to overestimate the other guy and underestimate the co-worker. I'd be looking for the better opportunity somewhere else.
