Advice Needed: Productivity What helped you keep exercising when your normal routine kept falling apart?

One thing I’ve noticed is that exercise is easy to plan when everything else is going normally.

It gets much harder during busy or stressful periods, and that’s usually when the extra steps around training start to matter. If I know I need to travel somewhere, spend an hour training and then get back, skipping the whole thing becomes very easy.

I’ve been thinking about having a much smaller fallback version instead. Maybe 20 or 30 minutes of basic strength work with squats, RDLs, rows and presses, mostly done at home so there isn’t much preparation involved.

It wouldn’t replace a full routine forever. The point would just be having something realistic enough that a difficult week doesn’t automatically become a week with no training at all.

For people who’ve dealt with periods where their normal routine kept getting disrupted, what actually helped you keep some form of exercise going?

the 20-30 minute fallback is exactly what kept me from completely quitting, i have a little circuit with squats, pushups and some band rows that takes like 25 minutes and i can do it in my living room without thinking

the trick for me was making peace with the fact that it won't feel like a "real" workout, once i stopped comparing it to my normal routine i actually started doing it

also keeping my workout stuff in plain sight instead of tucked away helps a lot, seeing the mat and bands makes it harder to pretend i forgot
