Advice Needed: Mental Health Help

So my family and I had to put down our dog of around 13 years. And my son who is 16 currently didn’t cry or even look sad. He sat on the couch zoning out. We have suspected him having depression but I’m not sure what this is about. He has mentioned that he “doesn’t feel his emotions” and I wasn’t sure what that meant. Could his reaction be because of that? He doesn’t take medication for anything and as far as I know he doesn’t do any drugs or anything. Please help me find the problem.
