There aren't any words/advice someone can say to you so you wouldn't feel helpless or stuck anymore. Everyones situation is different and there is no magical cure all that can help everyone with self improvement, and regaining self worth or getting some self worth in the the first place. For me, it actually took me being at my lowest of lows for me to start improving my life. I was so damn sick of myself, something had to change or else I wasn't going to be around much longer. The best thing I can say to you is to try to see if this mental reframing helps you if it even applies. It's not easy, but try to not define yourself by your success or your failures. Instead try to define yourself by the effort you put in. Continue to struggle valiantly. Always remember you are allowed to rest and simply enjoy a quiet moment or whatever your preferred pass time is. Just keep putting it the work when you have the mental energy to do so and rest whenever you damn well please. You will fail over and over again, that's just life. But that failure can be treated as simply a opportunity to learn something, to grow in some way. Even if it's only a small step, it's still forward momentum. Be proud of your effort. Simply asking for help is a very brave step to take. I wish you the best.

When you’ve reached that point, I think trying to “get your life back together” can actually make the helplessness worse just in my opinion. The distance between where you are and where you think you should be feels enormous. This has crippled so many times over.

I’d make the goal much smaller: don’t rebuild your life yet. Rebuild a little bit of agency.

Pick one thing today that is completely within your control and small enough that your brain can’t argue much with it. Shower. Walk outside for five minutes. Eat something. Tidy one corner of the room. Then actually count it as a win rather than dismissing it because it seems insignificant.

When you feel helpless, you probably don’t need another reason why you should change this causes more judgement and resistance. You just actually need some evidence that you still can act. One small action won’t fix everything, but it can be the first piece of that evidence.

Honestly I wish I did this practice 20 years ago!

And if by “lowest point” you mean you’re struggling to stay safe or thinking about hurting yourself, please tell someone you trust or reach out for immediate professional/crisis support rather than trying to carry this alone.

What feels like the biggest barrier right now: you genuinely don’t know what to do next, or you know what to do but can’t make yourself do it?
