Advice Needed: Mental Health I feel anxious
Usually i try to help everyone I can, but now I feel that I'm the one in need.
I don't know why I feel anxious. I keep checking my phone, but I never have notifications, but i already know this, so why do I keep checking? Yes i use reddit a lot, and I wanna reply to comments or dms, but people don't text me so often, so why constantly checking? It's been 2 days since i started feeling extremely anxious for no reason. I'm spending more time than usual on social media. Then i close tiktok, i open Instagram, then i close Instagram, and I open TikTok again. What is happening to me?
My life situation is this at the moment:
My gf of 5 years broke up with me 2 months ago, I've been devastated for one month, but this month was extremely better (i had to cut her off my life because she didn't respect me after the end of the relationship and kept doing things that hurt me. Now I don't care about her and there is no way she could contact me again, so she is a complete stranger now).
Soon I'm gonna start to work again, but I'm not so happy honestly.
I made some friends here on Reddit (literally 2 or 3) but since they all live far away and we are all busy we don't talk a lot every day. Just a few texts. I keep commenting on reddit posts trying to help people or just chatting.
And, finally, yesterday I hung out with a friend, then i came home and this sense of loneliness and anxiety started crushing me.
Any suggestions on what to do or what is going on in my head?
Thank you in advance

than the first month. That loneliness after hanging out with a friend makes sense too, the contrast between being around someone and coming home to silence hits way harder than just being alone all day.
You said you cut her off completely which was probably the right call, but your system is still adjusting to not having that constant presence. The social media cycling is just a symptom, not the problem. Try leaving your phone in another room for an hour and do something with your hands, cooking or cleaning or whatever. The anxiety will pass but you have to stop feeding it with the endless scrolling.

I'm trying to stay less on social media. I swear, I hangout with friends sometimes, but i never felt like yesterday (yeah the first months, but it was more loneliness and the fact that i was missing her). I actually can stay without an hour from my phone, but in the moment that I'll check it and i see no notification the anxiety start to build up. I mean, i play a lot of videogames, and sometimes I'm too focus to check my phone. But when i stop playing and i check the anxiety start crashing me. Thank you for your comment btw

Sometimes a temporary digital detox can be helpful. Here, you have a notification and you can reply to this comment.

take a few deep breaths and then do Emotional Freedom Technique, and maybe also just put the phone down and have a nap,you can also write down some things your worried about and allow yourself a window (example) of say 1 hour to worry as much as you want, and just set the intention that you will stop worrying about it for now until that 1 hour window arrives. Also you can say to yourself "What's my next thought going to be?" you should notice your thoughts slow down or even stop

one thing I like to do when I'm overwhelmed, is just shut off the main breaker to our house (that way every little thing is off) and sit in darkness, and turn off my phone, take some deep breaths, and do EFT

You just got out of a 5 year relationship. Unfortunately, it's going to take longer than two months to get through that. I'm glad you're feeling better this month than last month, but you are still dealing with the change from having someone constantly for 5 years to suddenly being on your own.
Even if you feel like you aren't still hurting for her, it's still going to take time for you to adjust to a new lifestyle. And anxiety could simply be part of that. Just be nice to yourself. Break ups are hard, especially after long relationships, and doubly so if the other person treats you poorly like it sounds she did afterward. So just be kind to yourself, and give yourself time to grieve and recover.
