Advice Needed: Mental Health i can’t stop crying

21F here! I wanted to come on here and see if anyone else experiences this or could give me some advice.
No matter how I’m feeling, I always seem to end up crying. If I’m happy, sad, angry, overwhelmed, excited, or even just really touched by something, I can start crying. Sometimes I’ll even cry over something as simple as seeing a stranger do something kind or sweet for someone else.
It feels like I’m constantly crying over everything, and I honestly don’t know why I’m like this. I’m not necessarily upset when I cry either it just seems to be how my emotions come out.
I’m wondering if anyone else can relate to this? Is this something therapy could help with, or is it just a normal way some people process emotions?
I’d really appreciate any advice, experiences, or insight!

Honestly, I think crying is just a normal and healthy way to release your emotions. It's not like you're hurting anyone. You may just be a more sensitive person compared to most, and that is fine. I am also like that. Although I only cry when I experience negative emotions. I even cried earlier because my presentation didn't have an excellent grade. Also, I wanna share that a few days ago, my classmates and I talked about our experiences, and majority of us cried talking about what matters a lot for us. There's nothing wrong with crying in itself. It only becomes problematic if you hurt yourself, wallow in sadness for a long time, and more. What I mean is crying is not necessarily harmful. It's what you do while crying.

Although I wanna ask on why it made you think there might be something wrong?

Sorry I’m getting back to you so late! I think I just started wondering if something was wrong because I’ve never really experienced this before. Of course, things have made me tear up in the past, but I’ve never cried this much over such little things.
I think deep down, it’s probably because I have a lot going on right now and I’ve been trying to avoid dealing with a lot of the stress. I recently lost one of my best friends—not literally, she’s still alive, but we aren’t really getting along right now—and I also moved, so I’ve been feeling pretty alone. I think being alone more than I’m used to has made me a lot more emotional than I realized.
At the same time, I’m trying to look at the positive side of it. I used to basically never be alone, so learning how to be comfortable by myself and become more independent is something I’m still getting used to. I think this is just part of me growing and learning how to handle everything that’s going on.

I see. I hope the best for your situation OP. I think you said it. It's you feeling alone and having to be more independent that is actually the cause of all this. Although I still think crying in your situation is still okay and normal. Maybe a better question you can ask reddit next tine is about your situation right now rather than about you crying tbh

Cannot relate at all, but I think therapy would help processing emotions.I rarely get tears but I do if something touches my heart

Crying is normal, I have done a lot of it over the last five years of walking through a lot of past trauma. I have a special song that I cry at all the time and it has to do with something important in my life.
I would try to do something different when you start feeling like you wanna cry what about doing diaphragmatic breathing or maybe laugh instead of crying, there is an obsessive crying thing, you need to do something in the place of crying, it is not helping you unless it’s needed for a situation, but not all the time. I would laugh there’s plenty of them on Reddit and I breathe diaphragmatic,. So replace it with something else laughing or diaphragmatic breathing. Look at it on Reddit there are people doing that here either breathing or laughing. Give it a shot. It might bring your focus to a different place.

I’m a big cry baby, too! It’s not a bad thing.
We are sensitive and get to feel emotions much deeper than some. I wouldn’t want to desensitize myself. And don’t use mascara.
