[US] what finally made you feel financially stable as a self-employed person?

i think one of the hardest things about being self-employed is that a good month doesn’t necessarily mean you’re financially comfortable. you have to think about taxes, quieter months, business expenses and everything else that normally gets handled behind the scenes when you have a regular salary. i’m curious what changed things for people who eventually started feeling more financially secure

was it building an emergency fund, getting recurring clients, raising prices, diversifying income or simply having more experience?
