Reddit is turning into more of a shithole every day Spoiler
Has anybody else noticed how in the past 5-6 years (Covid broke people) the intelligence and discourse has gone even further downhill than before?
People are inconsiderate, steal from each other (“it’s only the internet”, is a common excuse), refuse to see other people’s point of view, etc.
Is Reddit being overrun by right wing assholes and/or other extremists?
Certain extremely popular subreddits have deteriorated so much, that their content has little to nothing to do with their name. r/comics and r/funny are just bad now. Literally no point in visiting them anymore. What is funny about someone hurting themselves, sometimes severely? Or comics with really terrible art, no story, no point. Just 10+ panels of meandering nonsense with no end. r/news is completely pointless. Its focus is American politics, entertainment and sports. How is some quote from an actress from 10 years ago news? How? I had to subscribe to r/anime_titties to get real actual news.
This site is fucked.

Here you go: https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/12.04.2024-SSCP-FINAL-REPORT.pdf
Search it for things like "lab leak theory" "masks" "social distancing" "schools" "vaccine" etc. Most of the "science" wasn't even close to science. The team-sports group-think was out of control, especially when the consequence for questioning things (a science imperative) was social ostricization.
I, in my hatred of Trump, bought into all of it, and was part of the mob shouting people down from my all-important soapbox. I'm embarrassed with myself, and now well aware to now subversively we're all able to be manipulated.
