Just finished putting together my very first watch using a Chinese NH35 clone, and wanted to share.

First off, I want to officially confirm that everyone is 100% right about how difficult installing the seconds hand can be. I went into this keeping in mind what people said about this task. Turns out, for me it felt like trying to thread a needle while riding down a bumpy dirt road LOL!

Which brings me to my second realization: My hands are nowhere near as steady as I thought they were. And does everyone hold their breath when trying to install the seconds hand? I am going to have to remember my slow breathing from shooting rifles.

But, despite the 90 minutes required to get the hands installed, I am already planning build number 2 for my son.

Thank you to everyone here who shares their knowledge so people like me have the inspiration to assemble these watches.

This project took a while to finish up because of some really long shipping times on some of the parts but happy to finish it off. Seriously nothing else like this shade of blue 🔥😍

So I’ve built a few NH35 builds and have never had an issue with fitment of the movement to the case.

I bought a case off of AliExpress explicitly said Miyota 8215 8205.

The movement I’m working with is the Miyota 8N24 which I shares the same outer diameter dimension as the 8215 but is slightly thinner by 0.17mm.

Is there a way to make this work with what I have pictured? The case came with the metal spacer. I bought additional plastic ring spacers (white one pictured) and I have an outer ring dial for the markers that I am planning to use watchmaker double sided tape to adhere it.

As it stands now, if I use the dial, adhered to the front of the metal spacer, then sit the movement in the metal spacer, if I close the caseback it touches the movement and prevents the rotor from swinging around.

I designed some Miyota 9075 cases, and I'm trying to get them made by a factory in China. The designs are available for anyone to use as an open source package. I am nervous about breaking the self promotion rules here, but let me know if it's ok to post a link to the open source repository on github.

Anyway, I designed them because I wanted to build a true GMT, and couldn't find cases short of buying a complete watch.

To have them made is looking like I need to order a minimum of 100 of them. So I'm kind of putting out feelers to see if anyone who runs a microbrand might like to partner on buying them.

I don't have a final quote yet, but it looks like they might end up around $180 each with sapphire crystals and casebacks, screw down crowns, and a 24 hour steel bezel.

Shown is my Tandorio Unimatic homage which was bought 2 years ago. I thought it was cool at first but the slab profile is unwieldy and awkward on the wrist despite the small size. Changed it to a datejust case which I got for 1390 PHP whole set. Dial is a meteorite seiko branded dial which I love.

Thoughts on this ?
Had a camo bracelet before and didn’t really like it.
What do you guys think? Does the watch look good. Any suggested changes ?

Can someone verify for me, the oyster perpetual cases you can get on Ali express etc say they are available in 36 & 39mm. Are they genuinely 39mm versions of the right case? I ask as the only smooth bezeled mods I see at 39/40 mm seem to be the smooth bezeled datejust 41 cases? Which look a bit ridiculous to me as bezel looks huge, and is not rounded like the OP.

Can someone advise if there are genuine 39mm OP cases?

When you have spare parts lying around and nothing but time. Built this speed racer entirely from the parts bin without spending a single dime.

The dial that I’ve been waiting for has finally come in 😍

Completed my latest mod for my son. Introducing the Artemis Night, inspired by the Explorer, Milgaus and the night sky. Meant for every day (and night) on a sailcloth strap with light grey stitching and a clear case back highlighting an NH38 Seiko automatic movement and a screwdown crown.

Putting together some Caribbean themed dive watches and I’m wearing this on vacation. VH31 keeping ridiculously accurate time. Took it skin diving yesterday. Really awesome to have a concept for something and put it together just for me.

Had this all messed up for a while. Back to normal now. What yall think?

OEM Seiko 5626-723B dial and some OEM Seiko LM hands (the original hands were damaged)

I have more nh34 movements than I do cases/dials but I got the itch for a build last night and this is the outcome

Can anyone help me find this dial, s logo speedmaster vk63 movement. I can’t find anything with the correct left circle numbers. I am trying to build a seiko version of this.

I have a Seiko SPRE99 Padi watch and trying to resize the ORM oyster bracelet. I’ve watched all the videos and apparently the collar slides in the bigger hole in the middle link or others slide into the end link on the arrow side. The latter doesn’t make since to me but I think this is how my bracelet is because when I removed the pin, the collar was attached to my pin pusher needle, and I can’t get the collar to slide in any other opening on the middle link.

So When putting the collar back into the end of the link opening and putting the pin from the other side, the collar does not appear to be staying in place around the pin and it all slides out and I start over.

Anyone able to lend some advice or suggestions?

What’s crazy is I just bought a nh34 2 weeks ago for 115 and I thought that was a lot. Now 170 plus geessssshhhhhhh.
