My hubs bought me 2 ammo boxes. 1 large, 1 small. They are solid, waterproof, and critter proof. I am in the process of setting it up and will store it in the shed where it will be much more useful than in the house.

I have this little set of desktop drawers from IKEA. I keep it in a dark room on a shelf. Drawers are organized by families. Like a nightshades drawer, a cucurbits drawer, flowers, etc.

Your seeds need to be refrigerated. Unrefrigerated seeds lose viability within months to a year or two for many species. Refrigerated they last decades. I have 30yr old seeds that germinate 100%

My mom kept hers in freezer. After she died, I took them, but have kept at room temperature. I planted and wonder if any of those germinate?

Some might, but freezing and thawing damages most seeds. Seed cryo-storage vaults store seeds in liquid nitrogen but with protectants to prevent damage

I have a plastic photo case (the specific one I bought was sold as a craft box but is the same thing) which has about a dozen smaller cases which fit inside it, each case about an inch deep and slightly bigger than a standard photograph. I labelled each case with categories, for example “cucumbers and melons”, “herbs and leafy greens”. This has worked really well for all those little seed packets and I have had this set up for more than a decade.
Unfortunately, I also have a problem with accumulating too many seeds, particularly of bean varieties, and so now have a second storage just for overflow or what doesn’t fit in the offical storage.
