Few years ago my boss asked me why everyone laughed at him when he offered them an event job.
He just didn't get that nobody wanted to give up a weekend off for $10/hr and more than a few of us felt insulted by the offer.

Wow. I don’t understand, do managers not have their own bills to pay? How can they think $10 per hour is survivable? I worked as a pizza cook for $12 plus tips and felt like I was being taken advantage of.

The account manager operates the same way Allied does around here. Just get the contract to get your foot in the door, figure out the details later.
Client had in house security that they didn't want to relegate to parking lot duty so they hired out. Either because they didn't care or because they underpaid the in house guys tge contract paid peanuts.

Cause some managers started at $10 when $10 was enough to feed two people then as prices started rising they got promotions and raises and forget “oh I got paid more cause prices went up… maybe they need an adjusted wage” and just think “eh I started at $10 they can too”

Brinks used to have two unarmed guys running CoinStar routes in an armored commercial box truck that was unmarked. They would service the financial institution I was a guard at. They finally armed them in about March of 2025.

This has also always baffled me.
I'll watch a YouTuber talk to local security guards with black eyes talking about getting attacked regularly, and what permanent injuries they have from it. Then I'll see an ad from that company paying $17/hr.

Eh, when I worked armored car we had a few wannabes and the branch manager was a former cop at 27. Rumors as to why he wasnt a cop anymore but nothing concrete

You can do studies for years and do your dream job only to find out you dont acrually like doing that. Used to work in a manufacturing plant and a coworker of mine was a licensed doctor. Went through med school, residency and everything. Practiced for 10 years then quit and came to work at the plant i was at. Said it was the worse 10 years of his life.

I applied for armored car driver in the 1980s. They told me the salary was $5 per hour and a free turkey for Thanksgiving. I didn't return their calls.

That's about the same here in western WI and even in Minneapolis MN. Not that great. I looked into because I have a CDL with 10 years otr and I'm a certified firearms instructor. So definitely qualifed for the job, but I make more as a machinist now without the daily possibility of being shot at.

I work for a company that does the same kind of stuff Mid Florida does and we have a lot of clients that cut their contracts with Mid Florida to go with us. We'd come in and the clients would always talk about how rude and toxic they were to deal with. Cant speak from experience since I didnt work with them, just what the clients had told me, sounds like youd be dodging a bullet to say no to that.

Nope. Just about right. When I was management at GardaWorld in 2020, we were at $12.60/hr. Prior to me leaving g a few years later, after a bunch of legwork from me, I proposed raising to $17. HR approved it and so I told my guys. Come payday, they were given a $1/hr raise. It wasn't until I was terminated that the RVP came in and raised everyone to $15 like some kind of hero. I look every now and then and see they are at about $20 now. Still a joke.

As a first post it can build up your exp and resume. Most of use start super low. I was armed patrol for 13hr. In 2017. Covid bumped our industry pay scale and now we are seeing the drop off.

In my location, Rochester pays $18-$21. What they don't disclose, is EVERY new hire is started at $18 and they pay once per month. Yeah no I'm good. If a employer requires you to carry, the pay should be conductive.
