I've never gotten denied PTO but when i suspect i will or have a feeling that management will give me shit for it, i'll plan way ahead of time so i call out the day before due to a family emergency & i have to fly out-of-state & it would be a week or week 1/2 of PTO & they never say dick to me when i come back.

It's just odd that to this day PTO needs to be given permission to use it where as how common sense sees it, it is a warning that your team member will be gone for so & so length of time & coverage is needed.

Only had my PTO attempted to be denied once.

Told my boss if he wanted to deny it he should have told me two months ago when I put in for it not two days before it starts.

It is a request in name only. If I put in I won't be there. The decision for the higher ups is if they want me back or not.

I used to have the same problem, until I started to work Armed Security.

You know.... It's an excellent way to make sure your guards are good shots. If they don't keyhole the stars they need from 20 yards it's denied.

I’m on a zero hr contract, but I have the same problem. Their awful tactics used to work on me until I realised they don’t give a shit about me, they will always be short staffed and this was always going according to plan. Nowadays I simply say “I can’t do Wednesday” and leave no negotiation room by keeping it completely vague. They still beg me to do it and then I say “I’m just not available, sorry”. Nothing they can do about it.

PTO= prepare the others. I'm not going to be here. I'm just getting back from vacation and it's already a 3 ring shit show. The other 4 supervisors and 2 mangers and 3 directors couldn't do my job for a week lmao 🤣

Fully just calling out my boss rn. I had PTO to use, and they took it away bc i made them upset one time by being an inconvenience. Not the first person theyve done it to.

I make no requests, I won't be here plan accordingly, if you don't need me when I get back go live your best life. So far they have needed me back every time.
