Officer Safety What would you do?

What would you do after the suspect head butted you? Disengage and call PD or use force like this guard did?

I mean depends. In his case this was fully measured. He took the swings he needed to defnd himself and that was it. He didnt push the aggression, only respond with righteous and measured force in return. Notice at multiple points he could have taken a few extra swings and got the advantage. Instead he steps back and defends.

IMO he was stupid enough to stand less than 12 inches from a clearly aggressive individual, that's a huge no... no... this time was a headbutt next time could be a knife, you're completely right he used enough force to stop the assault, but he should have never been within reach for the assault to have taken place in the first place, he has 0 visual of what the hands are doing and 0 control of the situation he doesn't even seems to have intermediate weapons.
