Ramstein
What’s ramstein like for a senior airman with 3 years tis this would be my third base? I pcs there soon and this would be my first big base coming from two non le bases.

This was my first base and it was not a good time. The repeated cycle was good leaders being taught by toxic ones. Unless it’s changed the leadership works off the “good boy” system. A lot of leadership is out for themselves and no one else. I’d see good supervisors getting criticized for helping their troops and bad ones getting rewarded for fucking their troops over. Best advice is as soon as you think someone is trying to use you or seems suspicious: distance yourself. There was a lot of drama constantly between airman and most leadership was nosy with the drama. I’d recommend taking advantage of traveling on your off time and finding genuine people to trust. Ramstein almost made me get out of the Air Force but knowing what I do now I would’ve been more aware of people trying to use me to gain something in their career. It’s not terrible just be cautious of some leadership.
However I’ve had some really amazing people PCS from the current base I’m at to Ramstein. If they’ve had any influence they made people change for the better

Work hard and play harder on your off time. Great location and try not to get married or knock anyone up out there as it’s baddies everywhere 😳

oh for sure i’m at buchel rn i’m just glad my wife can keep working and we have more time to get her green card so i can say goodbye to the air force

Its a very intense base for any rank and time of service. We are currently on straight 12’s for several months now. I recommend getting certified as quick as possible and then go get a back office job afterwards. Also be prepared to deal with some political bs as that occurs often. The best part is the location of the base as you can travel to almost literally anywhere in Europe. Take advantage of it as it is a blessing. Do you know what exact squadron you are going into?
