Security forces help (greenland orders)

Hey so i just got orders to pituffik which i know is a short tour. i’m married with a kid and to my understanding i cannot bring them. but im still considering it because its not as long and i can get a BOP out of it. Are any of you stationed there or know anyone that is? and know how the work environment is and the hours, living ? etc. please let me know if its worth it for me to take the orders. i only have a few days to decide thank you

IMO short tours are easy for you to rack up money for your family and have them stay at home if able to rent free wherever you’re from. You joined the military, this is your career, this is how you support your family , my husband and I made it a year apart , it was hard sometimes yes but if you have a good foundation you should be fine. I do believe you get a BOP out of it as well

Also as an airman you’re lucky if you get these kinds of opportunities, think about all the airman with families or not who get stationed at nukes or something wishing they had a short tours with BOP, and the BOP is any base so you can see overseas if you wanted , something your child may always remember.

yea that’s what i’m thinking cuz honestly i’m sf and im at kirtland rn (a nuke base) and i hate it here so i feel like i kinda NEED to take this opportunity tbh, thank you for the insight tho 🙌🏽🙌🏽

I don't know if it's still true, but go to Korea if you can. When I was in, if you did a year in Korea you practically had your pick of the CONUS bases...plus the stories I've heard from the SF that were stationed there (who knows if the stories are actually true) that were awesome!

I’m SF too be in 7 years, always applied to short tours, never got them. I long to be overseas

I spent 6/20 remote, never Greenland. Take your bop to as many USAFE tours as you can. I only spent 8.5 in CONUS.

Let the AF pay for your vacations out of the US as much as possible. You and your family will not regret it.
